Some lettuce and radishes today. Transplanted some strawberries and got a few berries this year as well

It’s everyfreakingwhere.
Make it stop. It was an annoyance when I fished on St. Clair a lot, but it was never anywhere near where I lived in Oakland County. Moved out the greater Lansing area and this shit is everywhere. Fucking everywhere. Neighbor has a big beautiful tree. Great shade for my deck. But it is absolutely pelleting every inch of my soul right now.
Imma about to go George Washington on that bitch in the middle of the night.
Seriously, make it stop.

Best I can tell it’s pretty much done in our neighborhood, and I cover a lot of the streets walking the dog. It was obnoxious for awhile, though.

just made the mistake of going outside to water some pots in a pair of shorts and a tshirt and the skeeters almost carried me away to some sort of tribal commune I suspect they have somewhere.

Re: Bob how's your garden?
how's y'alls produce coming in?
I've harvested 4-5 squash, a few cucumbers. Still waiting on tomatoes, though they're looking good - just still pretty green. Cherry tomatoes are good in size, but need to start to turn pretty soon - I suspect within a week we'll have them.
looking forward to a caprese salad with homegrown tomatoes/cherry tomatoes. My wife made a tasty southern style squash casserole the other day with the harvest.

Found a couple cherry tomatoes tonight. Broccoli looks good. Couple peppers. Fighting the wood chicks again this summer

Lots of grape tomatoes already, with plenty more soon. Green beans and snap peas soon. Strawberries and squash slow going because critters keep eating the blossoms.

Don’t mess with woodchucks. They’re mean SOBs. They’ll never start a fight but if engaged they will battle until only one combatant is left standing.

I only enter a wood chuck fight with a head bashing shovel or a .22

Re: Bob how's your garden?
cherry tomatoes are coming in nicely, as are cucumbers, squash and peppers. Tomatoes are finally ripening some - I've managed to harvest 3-4 with more on the way.
as for ornamental plants, my potted impatiens are not doing too good. I think they got cooked early on in June with some late afternoon direct sun. Impatiens in the ground are pretty lush, as are rudbeckia (the best time of year for rudbeckia) and my various miscanthis grasses are full and flowing.

Caprese salad is so good with home grown tomatoes. Might have to try a late planting.

also put together a similar version with cherry tomatoes, no basil, though - sliced up the homegrown cucumbers and mozzarella (didn't grow the mozzarella... had to buy that).. a dash of sea salt, olive oil and balsamic glaze.

Took a 5th woodchuck out.
Just pulled 2 five gallon buckets full of potatoes out, not bad for not planting a potato as about 10 or 11 hills came up from last year

Just finished making my second batch of blackberry jam. We have had nearly 5 lbs so far, which is surprising considering how little rain we have had. The next harvest will be for flavoring the Doppelkorn.
It looks like another good pumpkin year. There are several that should make good Jack o'Lanterns for the 5 year old.

Wood chuck #6 today he's been avoiding death for a couple weeks. Between the chucks and rabbits sneaking through the woven wire things aren't as good as normal,.oh well

Re: Bob how's your garden?
have officially trimmed down my vegetable garden.. RIP.
been gradually cutting back perennials, grasses. Some still look okay, from a fall-like ornamental perspective. I've spent most of today raking, leaf blowing.. 30 mph winds in East Lansing, so I've tried to make sure to rake/blow with the wind.

Dahlias and other perennials checked on Monday. Must of been a cold night. Got most of the tulips and dutch iris in. Have a few more to do. Was waiting for the perennials to cash in their chips.

You know a lot of those perennials are better off being left alone, right? The birds will eat the remaining seeds. Although I did just learn the Joe Pye should come down to about eight inches off the ground. I’ll leave the seed heads for the critters. I’ll need to move some in the spring, anyway.

Do you bring your dahlia bulbs in for winter?

Birds aren't real, so, it's not real shit. 2 + 2 = 4
