who wants to tell Mark that the person in charge thinks it's a hoax, that it'll 'magically disappear' and thinks that injecting people with bleach is a good idea?Nordic wrote:Mark Emmert: ‘If there is to be college sports in the fall, we need to get a much better handle on the pandemic’“Any recommendation on a pathway toward a safe return to sport will depend on the national trajectory of COVID-19 spread,” said Brian Hainline, NCAA chief medical officer, in a statement. “The idea of sport resocialization is predicated on a scenario of reduced or flattened infection rates.”
In his own statement, the president of the NCAA sounded an ominous alarm for fall sports, including football.
“When we made the extremely difficult decision to cancel last spring’s championships it was because there was simply no way to conduct them safely,” said Mark Emmert. “This document lays out the advice of health care professionals as to how to resume college sports if we can achieve an environment where COVID-19 rates are manageable. Today, sadly, the data point in the wrong direction. If there is to be college sports in the fall, we need to get a much better handle on the pandemic.”

Days after quarantining entire team, Michigan State announces 16 players, four staffers tested positive for COVID-19
Edit: doesn't look like all football, but it is poorly written so I can't tell

Come to think of it, I’ve never seen Miami in a PAC12 school jersey. Seems pretty obvious he’s trying a little too hard to put some distance between himself and that conference.

How could I be a Pac 12 player when I live in Miami? It's right there in my screen name and profile. What, you think someone can just make up that kind of stuff if it isn't true?

Good for them, but I think this one's a non starter:
"Distribute 50% of each sport’s total conference revenue evenly among athletes in their respective sports."

To put it in perspective, even the NFL distributes less than 50% of league revenues to players. And the NFL doesn't have to deal with Title IX offsets and non revenue sports.

More on this story. Looks like it is possibly tied to the list of demands. But who knows. We are only getting one side of the story.

It will be simply impossible to get any kind of revenue deal done in the timeframe they are talking about.

I agree. Shut sports and school down until 2021 and reevaluate on a monthly basis. Greed has killed more people throughout history than war and disease combined.

What? I honestly don't understand the question. Are you saying college athletes are in such danger they need to be tested every day or risk death? If so, shit shouldn't have started up at all to begin with.

I'm done. Best to that kid from IU. this is really foolish to put kids lives on the line for football. It's a love of mine outside the family, but I'm not feeling good about having kids put their lives on the line for my entertainment.
I think we should shut it down and say look Fall 2021, just stop everything. Get well, do this. But we can't put kids at risk. They're just kids for fucks sake.

Car crashes aren’t contagious. Covid is. The greater number of people that have Covid, the greater the likelihood of it spreading. That’s not the case with car crashes. Car crashes are not contagious. One kid on a football team getting in a car crash doesn’t mean the likelihood of other kids on the team getting in a car crash.
