I'm just excited to have a rooting interest in a sport again (fuck the pro teams). Haven't had that since basketball shut down back in March. This is basically an exhibition season so just treat it like that and enjoy the ride.

Saw the winner of the US Open both men and womens singles match got a check for $3 million. Finding I enjoy pro sports more than amateur sports because the athletes get paid.

I just can't get excited about indentured servitude, Pylon. I have always loved college sports far more than pro sports, and with the exception the NBA, found it hard to get excited about pro sports. That has been definitely changing.

It's not going to change until we say enough is enough and tune out.

Specific to this year, I also have a hard time reconciling that this pandemic is A) dangerous enough for us to move to remote teaching, but B) it's ok to put these young people on the field for our entertainment and financial interests.

The only way it will change is if those “indentured” refuse to play. As long as they’re willing to play, I’m willing to watch.

I don’t care and wish we wouldn’t play this year mostly because we’re probably going to suck ass pretty bad and I’d rather we just have a year of practice to maybe get better and of recruiting without having to justify our 2-6 record to croots. I’m sorry for being honest

That’s not true and it’s abdicating responsibility. I have fallen out of love with football mainly because of CTE. I miss it, but my Saturdays and Sundays are a lot more productive.

Good for you! But you not watching isn’t going to change a thing and it’s not abdicating responsibility. Yes the system needs to change but it’s not an all or nothing approach that is going to solve it.

If we could protect, test, trace, and isolate kids with the frequency that they will be for B10 football players, then every school would be in person.

I'm the furthest thing from a "rah, rah, let them play fergodsakes," type. In fact, I'm more against it than for it. But we will see how it plays out. We have more than a month to see if other conferences have major issues. If they haven't, after 6 weeks or so of playing, then it shows that it can be done.

I think this is a really bad idea.

But is it bad I really want to watch them play? Even though they will really suck ass? I feel bad for wanting this, when it's at the expense of their health.

I agree with all of you if that's possible.

-Think it's probably a bad idea
-But hey, they have daily antigen testing, contact tracing, keeping them under lock and key, away from the rest of the students. Keeping them "safe".
-That is kinda indentured servitude. Sick of this model. The least you can do, especially during this time, is pass NIL.
-Players want to play. They are free to opt out and not lose eligibility. They have parents, and outside support systems who can help them make informed, mature decisions.
-Not really excited about it. Don't really care.
-I love Tucker the Skullfucker
-I will watch for sure.

I'm gonna go ahead and trust the decision makers about having the players best interests in mind. It'll be evident pretty quickly if that's not the case.

The fact that they postponed the season has me giving the presidents the benefit of a doubt. Maybe I'm being naive here but I believe there has been good discussion on how best to proceed. And people that know a lot more than me have decided to give it a shot.

If they keep moving forward with the season while kids are getting suck left and right then I'll change my tune. Until then, let's see how this plays out.

The good news is there is no history of Big Ten universities putting their own interests ahead of the well being of their student athletes. It's just never happened before, and there is no reason not to give the benefit out the doubt to Big Ten leaders.
