Why can't this thread die? If this thread gets another post, I am bumping the Big Ben and MSU in the Multiverse threads.

Thorne lost to Indiana at home with 2 nfl receivers. Houser won on the road without that around him.duffy munn wrote:I don't get how anyone could watch our QB play this year and think any different.DWags wrote:

2023 Thorne does not make that game winning pass. Period. You may have memories of what he was in 2021, but that’s not him in 22 or 23. He loses that game to Indiana. Book it. We’ve already seen him do it once

Between Kim and Hauser 12TDs and 11 INT. What’s not to love?

Thorne seems to have settled in as a midlevel starting QB. Another loss we all can pin on Tucker.
Re: Can we talk about the athleticism of Thorne?
Dwags is becoming the guy who won't call block his crazy sister-in-law no matter how many times she tries to talk to him or his wife trying to disrupt his family because the sister-in-law decided to cut herself from the rest of the family.
Thorne wasn't happy with Tucker as HC. Thorne probably had more information than other players because his father was at WMU and other coaches knew more than many of MSU's players.
Thorne is gone. Thorne would have transferred the moment Smith got Aiden Chiles to sign.

It was in my google news feed, although it’s true I chuckled after posting it.
Edited to add: My primary reason for posting this was of my surprise Thorne was back at AU. I thought he was done and gone.

Leavitt looked good against his nobody opponent too, while in that game shockingly Jay Johnson’s offense didn’t produce much.
Free idea for 247- one page where I can track all of my schools ex players after a Saturday. I do not care to look up the box scores for Auburn Arizona state coastal Carolina and East Carolina every single week and fuck that’s just the quarterbacks

Thorn is just another player on team that happens to be coached by the guy who got his shot at a D1 staffer because he coached football at the private school Michael Oher’s guardians sent Oher to play.

Anddddd back to Thorne. No need to rehash my feelings on Thorne, but this coaching staff has done him no favors. Auburn QB room has been a hot mess.

Re: Can we talk about the athleticism of Thorne?
Not gonna rehash my feelings on who was the best QB on our team the Spring he left. But Saban just said this about the Thorne, ( and please this isn’t an msu issue, nor should it be about him, he was a great Spartan and nice kid, we don’t need to run a kid down that won some big games for us and never was in trouble)
But Saban said this and I agree, “everyone on Auburn’s team knows who the best quarterback is,”. So here is my thought, that staff loses the locker room if they pull their starter again. This is different than a dual QB. As a staff you’ve made that decision to play two. The team will be on board. But if the locker room is perceiving one of those QBs as better than the other and you’re yanking them out because he has a bad run, you’ve lost the room.
I’m not in Auburns room or practice, but if I’m making that switch from Thorne to the other guy, I’m sticking with it. Young kid over old kid, that’s your future, you’ve declared to your team you think he’s ready, let him have a bad game. We have a QB that doesn’t make great decisions, Smith is going to ride that horse till he’s better or the rumblings in the locker room tell him they don’t have confidence in him.

My take is Chiles feels like he has to make (big) plays for us to win...and he might be right. I'm OK with (way) downfield INTs. Just have to avoid the out passes that go for pick 6s. And he needs to protect the ball when he runs, which he might have to do today for us to have any chance.
Good Luck to Thorne. I've just kind of erased the end of the Tucker era from my brain. He was QB for a pretty great win though.
