I know that movie is as much a love story as it is a baseball story, but it's still my favorite baseball movie and the reason is Vin Scully.

Clearly, I agree, and I will go farther than that and say without Vin Scully and his broadcast partner calling the game in the movie the drama and love story don't work. The back-and-forth tension of the game and the love story together is what makes it work and Skully's classic announcing style, so reminiscent of Earnie, makes the game part almost believable.

Like so many other classic sports announcers Vin Scully was unique and his calls will be missed.

That People tweet from Friday was premature as Friday she was announced brain dead. She was being kept on life support (I believe to save her organs for the donate), but she was taken off that last night or this morning.
