The only call I had a real problem with was not kicking the FG in the second half. I suppose the play calling of the last couple years has set the bar low.

But they are not alone. This is behind a paywall, but if the title is accurate, you don't need to read it to know what it is about.
Michigan State fans upset over playcalling, penalties from Florida Atlantic win
https://www.mlive.com/spartans/2024/09/michigan-state-fans-upset-over-playcalling-penalties-from-florida-atlantic-win.html
Is anyone really "upset"?
I might be a little worried if I bet the over @ 5.5 wins.

If you add up all of the conference wins this season by every other Big Ten team and multiply the sum by twelve billion, it still wouldn’t equal a quarter of MSU’s conference wins.

That's great. Depending on whether or not I have that channel.
I wonder how rowdy a night game will be there? In 2023 they ranked #62 in attendance with an average of 36,376 (cap 45000). With O'Brien they might be selling a lot more tickets.
EDIT: can't worry about that now, need to focus on the Prairie Dawgs.

Been to Chestnut Hill many times.
Check the MBTA routes.
Chestnut Hill Station is at the end of the line so for example you can get a room in Brookline then take the T and take about a 15 minute walk to the stadium.

Happy birthday to our now 19-year-old quarterback, Aiden Chiles. As a present, evidently the big ten has taken one of his interceptions away from last week and one of his pass attempts away and turned it into a fumble

So Boone Pickens didn’t leave OSU a big pile of oil money for rainy days? Maybe Gundy spent it already.

Well, now everyone can stop with the "he's just 18 years old" excuse. He now has to be perfect, or else he's an abject failure who will never improve.DWags wrote:Happy birthday to our now 19-year-old quarterback, Aiden Chiles.

If he doesn't lob a piss missile to the endzone on his first snap tomorrow, I'm starting a chant for the backup QB.
And also a fire Smith chant.
It's time to demand perfection.

I guess. But I guess my point is, if we build a lead in the first half tomorrow,, perhaps we should rest Chiles I feel like and play the back ups

In my mind that is a big "if"...
We will see is the coaches can have the team focused to play.
Also, yes, if MSU is mauling Prairie View then we will see how Smith handles his QB development.

I'd personally pull the starters at the end of the first quarter at the latest. I'd actually rather see the backups start - give them some meaningful game experience where the snaps matter. It's easy for them to come in and play confident when they are on mop up duty - it's a lot harder when they are starting right out of the gate. I don't care if the scoreline isn't super lopsided if we're giving the young guys meaningful game experience.

Yeah, I'd give the 35 year old from North Dakota 3/4 or at least the second half. He may be key later in the year... and it's not like Chiles needs to pad stat lines for the Heisman or something.

I don't say this to disrespect Chiles, because I think he's going to be great, but I essentially view him as the backup that suddenly had to grow up and take the starting job a year before he was ready. Expectations are fairly low this year - 6 wins would be amazing, but not necessarily a sure thing. He's getting valuable experience learning to run a Big Ten offense this season. He is essentially Kirk Cousins if Brian Hoyer would have gotten a season ending injury in game 1 of 08.

Like many players in the covid era, he gets an extra year, is he really that old?

I guess if I am reading the media reports correctly that he has more natural talent than Kurt, not to disparage a top NFL QB but Kurt worked his talent to the best effect over years while Chiles is starting with talent that Kurt could only dream of when he was 19.

I was exaggerating, probably 25/26... sixth year in college ball.

I haven't seen him play live but EL folks are saying he's the best Trojan back since Randy Kinder. ( I think they are forgetting Antoine Bagwell). Anyway, if they're comparing him to Kinder it's high praise. He was the best high school player I ever saw and if George had landed him he would have been a star here.
