We may be well and truly fucked.  Biden is a rambling old man and trump essentially has immunity from anything that can be classified an official act.  What does that mean?  Trump, as president, surely has an official interest in "maintaining election integrity", so he can do anything?  Even if he's lying and wrong?  This is absurd.  Seems like yet another power shift to the judiciary.

Here's what may happen, trump is charged due to his actions, judge on case defines some as official acts, some as not.  Trump disagrees, goes up the chain (again) for the corrupt scotus to decide.  That's more power to them to be the arbiter of, well, everything.

Meanwhile delay delay delay yet again.  Our legal system sucks

On paper, the ruling makes sense ONLY if you ALREADY have a narrow definition of what is and is not an official act.  Want to take a guess as to how narrow that little Diddy will be treated?

It’s as narrow as the numbers 1-9 or more specifically 1-6.

definitely explains why the mainstream media, Russia, political/academic elites, republican/libertarians, et al, are doing their best to distract people from real issues America and democracy is facing with their "Biden is old" marching orders.

One thing I will give trump, is that he is a master of working in, and taking advantage of grey areas of law and our society at large.  The issue is that as president he has the literal power to create those grey areas and take advantage of them.  As I'm sure Zurn will agree, The Russians have themselves an absolutely stellar asset.

Seems to me that an official act of the presidency would be to imprison 6 Supreme Court justices in gitmo and replace them with 25 year old kids that just passed the bar, want the leftiest of leftist shit, and can be on the court for 70 years.

Democrats would never, we love our norms too much, and that’s what they’re banking on.

Anyway. Expand the court to 380,000,000 seats.

Lindsey Graham was yesterday saying there would retribution against President Biden for what's going on at the Mexican border. Now that the Supreme Court gave him a pass since it's an official act of the President it looks like Lindsey is going to eat some crow. Of course with the hypocrisy of the republicans there's no doubt they will still try and go after him should Trump steal the election.

Democrats have two main faults.

1. they think the average American has a reasonable amount of intellectual curiosity.

2. they play the game of modern American politics fairly.

republicans/libertarians, Russia and the mainstream media recognize this and, to them, it's like blood in the water.

We are now living in a representative democracy in name only.

The GOP controls the highest court in the land. That means elections no longer matter.

They will take place on a pro forma basis but this court has shown multiple times they won't go so far as to upset the GOP majority apple cart and in most instances will make rulings that benefit GOP office holders, corporations and the Top 5% that donate to the GOP directly and through 501c PAC's where their money can't be traced directly to them.

As some other poster alluded to, if Trump wins in November we can expect appointments to important posts that make our current Post Master General look like Mother Theresa

It’s really incredible.

Take the Nixon tapes for instance. If those tapes were over Nixon wanting and speculating what were to happen if Robert Kennedy were assassinated. In a case where Nixon and his cronies were the ones responsible……

Those tapes wouldn’t be admissible as evidence in a criminal trial.

Setting aside dislike for (Bob's adjectives) Trump, it's worth remembering.....

Alito and Thomas are not Trump appointees.
Trump's appointees might have been any republican's appointees. The problem is that Trump had the opportunity to choose those appointees.

imagine a country where someone who was convicted of 34 felonies and incited a deadly attack on democracy in an attempt to overturn a free and open electioin was then told by the highest court in the land that, if re-elected, he has sweeping immunity to committing crimes.

wonder what "America First" patriots would think of that country? scratch

Maybe this was signaling from Alito, Thomas and the conservatives on the court. Shoving their chips into the middle of the table. You want this type of authoritarian government, then November is you chance. I mean it’s clear Democrats will never push the envelope on gray areas and instead rely on the good natured American public to just do the right thing and vote for the good natured guy who maybe likes ice cream or potato chips. As long as he’s good natured and says some feel good anecdotes about the American spirit.

Then again I guess it doesn’t matter. Democrats will fuck it up and republicans will always get another at bat to hit it out of the park.

On the surface, the ruling seems reasonable, do you really think trump should be prosecuted after office for orders given during a conflict that resulted in some deaths?  Probably not.  But the problem comes when you realize that when you give republicans an inch of gray area, they will push it to the limit and take a million miles.  You're then relying on the court to do right in making a judgement weather or not something was a legit act of the office.  A court whom have already proven to be corrupt.  And second, and particularly disturbing is the bit about disallowed evidence.  Like what the fuck

The counter argument that presidents have governed fine without this level assumed immunity forever, why on earth would you give the free pass now?

Hey man this post wasn’t during a commercial you might have missed something! Be more careful please

Does a MOD have to ban himself for trolling?
I’ll discuss it on the secret board that no one else can see where we have dossiers on all posters just in case they act out

The counter argument that presidents have governed fine without this level assumed immunity forever, why on earth would you give the free pass now?

Allowing the President to conspire to attack the States voting systems as the calling his discussion regarding placing an acting AG in place to issue a unfounded letter to the States an official act beyond litigation or even evidence is corrupt by the court.

Be sure to invite Dwags and BTW, just because you are a MOD it shouldn't give you license to act how you are acting.  Just the opposite.  I guess you are taking lessons from Trump's example.

I would suggest that if you want to act this way create a second non mod board ID and use that.

Trapz if you really want to step back on this, I told you not to watch cable news so much and you lost your goddamn mind about it.

Point stands, cable news is a wasteland and you shouldn’t watch it.

And I told you I don't watch it, which I don't,  yet you continue with your charade.  I get TM or Zurn doing that, I expect better from a MOD.

I suggest you look in a mirror regarding your comment.

I have been polite and factual replying to you.

I just saw that you edited your post after I replied to it, which I never would have seen as I had clearly already read it. Why would I have seen your edit trappy?

Regardless I don’t really believe you since your first post was about what talking heads are saying to you and the edit came after you were told that cable news is worthless.

You’re a silly goose trapper
