Here's what may happen, trump is charged due to his actions, judge on case defines some as official acts, some as not. Trump disagrees, goes up the chain (again) for the corrupt scotus to decide. That's more power to them to be the arbiter of, well, everything.
Meanwhile delay delay delay yet again. Our legal system sucks
On paper, the ruling makes sense ONLY if you ALREADY have a narrow definition of what is and is not an official act. Want to take a guess as to how narrow that little Diddy will be treated?

Seems like yet another power shift to the judiciary.

It’s as narrow as the numbers 1-9 or more specifically 1-6.

definitely explains why the mainstream media, Russia, political/academic elites, republican/libertarians, et al, are doing their best to distract people from real issues America and democracy is facing with their "Biden is old" marching orders.kingstonlake wrote:From the decision

This has to backfire, right? If this doesn’t motivate people to vote, nothing will.

One thing I will give trump, is that he is a master of working in, and taking advantage of grey areas of law and our society at large. The issue is that as president he has the literal power to create those grey areas and take advantage of them. As I'm sure Zurn will agree, The Russians have themselves an absolutely stellar asset.

Democrats would never, we love our norms too much, and that’s what they’re banking on.
Anyway. Expand the court to 380,000,000 seats.

1. they think the average American has a reasonable amount of intellectual curiosity.
2. they play the game of modern American politics fairly.
republicans/libertarians, Russia and the mainstream media recognize this and, to them, it's like blood in the water.

The GOP controls the highest court in the land. That means elections no longer matter.
They will take place on a pro forma basis but this court has shown multiple times they won't go so far as to upset the GOP majority apple cart and in most instances will make rulings that benefit GOP office holders, corporations and the Top 5% that donate to the GOP directly and through 501c PAC's where their money can't be traced directly to them.
As some other poster alluded to, if Trump wins in November we can expect appointments to important posts that make our current Post Master General look like Mother Theresa

Take the Nixon tapes for instance. If those tapes were over Nixon wanting and speculating what were to happen if Robert Kennedy were assassinated. In a case where Nixon and his cronies were the ones responsible……
Those tapes wouldn’t be admissible as evidence in a criminal trial.

Alito and Thomas are not Trump appointees.
Trump's appointees might have been any republican's appointees. The problem is that Trump had the opportunity to choose those appointees.

sεяεηιτλ wrote:On the surface, the ruling seems reasonable, do you really think trump should be prosecuted after office for orders given during a conflict that resulted in some deaths? Probably not. But the problem comes when you realize that when you give republicans an inch of gray area, they will push it to the limit and take a million miles. You're then relying on the court to do right in making a judgement weather or not something was a legit act of the office. A court whom have already proven to be corrupt. And second, and particularly disturbing is the bit about disallowed evidence. Like what the fuck
The counter argument that presidents have governed fine without this level assumed immunity forever, why on earth would you give the free pass now?
Allowing the President to conspire to attack the States voting systems as the calling his discussion regarding placing an acting AG in place to issue a unfounded letter to the States an official act beyond litigation or even evidence is corrupt by the court.

Be sure to invite Dwags and BTW, just because you are a MOD it shouldn't give you license to act how you are acting. Just the opposite. I guess you are taking lessons from Trump's example.
I would suggest that if you want to act this way create a second non mod board ID and use that.
