Don’t know who should be picked, but I absolutely believe they need someone who clears the “who’s that” hurdle.
Kelly clears that hurdle. Beshear maybe not as much.

Sounds like a "who have you heard of?" sort of poll.

Just a word of warning to our conservative posters...
If you want to out yourselves as racists have at it, but avoiding the term is a better idea.

Invoking DEI is pretty much always a bad idea. Equating it with the N word is ridiculous and no one should take that seriously.

I’d say it’s more of a dog whistle. People that get outraged over DEI need to explain to me what the opposite of that means.

Trump and his MAGA sycophants (some of whom who post here) are going to use every slur they can come up with to minimize Kamala Harris.
DEI is what Reagan’s “Welfare Queen” was in 1976. A pejorative used to minimize minority women by GOP politicians.
That’s the way the "conservatives" have campaigned for over 4 decades.

I agree that it's a dog whistle. Pretty much exactly the same as calling someone an affirmative action hire. Bad, but not equivalent to the N word.

It's basically a who you've heard of poll result. Californians probably have the most votes in that poll and thus the californian wins at 30%
Whitmer isn't in consideration. Beshear or Kelly are going to be the nominees. Probably Kelly. Assuming Kelly sounds pretty good on a stage (i don't actually know), he is the best pick on paper due to his background, he will easily be able to counter alot of the the GOP bullshit

Mark Kelly is getting support from Cindy and Meghan McCain who said if VP Harris choose him the Democrats will win AZ in November.
McCains endorsement is a big deal. They endorsed Kelly in the 2020 special election against Trump endorsed Martha McSally and Kelly won by 2.35% of 3.5M votes cast
Cindy McCain’s net worth is around $400M. Most of it coming from her inheriting her father’s beer distributorship.

Re: Kamala/ [insert name] 2024
I think Kelly fits perfectly into that slot where you know a little about him but not a lot. Basically America will learn more and decide, “Yeah I like that guy.” Kinda everything Trump isn’t. Accomplished, common sense type guy, compasionate, earned his stripes.
Someone like Buttigieg is already know. Good dude but the media will focus and run out a narrative of “here’s why you shouldn’t like Pete”
It’s sprint right now and the Kelly interest will peak at the right time.
Whitmer? Shit, you know they got the hit pieces all loaded up and ready to go. “Did you know her husband pulled rank to get Gretchen and his boat launched during Covid? She was partying without a mask!,
Beshear, maybe. Seems a little too unknown and comes across as potentially being an unleashed dog only. Sure he’ll go after Vance but the focus needs to be on Trump. Granted KY is going Red in the general anyway so I guess you could just turn him loose. Nothing lost.
Shapiro is pretty popular. I could see him as the pick.
My monies still on Kelly.

Re: Kamala/ [insert name] 2024
Back when I was young it used to be a presidential candidate would pick a running mate to “balance” the ticket. Be it regional need to help win or maybe philosophically left right or more center.
I do t think it’s like that anymore. But maybe it is. You notice three candidates being mentioned from battleground states, but so is Newsome being mentioned. I might be off base here but I just feel in the age of internet, you don’t need this balance.

Re: Kamala/ [insert name] 2024
People don't really vote for the VP, though, and a VP has rarely helped anyone carry a state, at least in the last 40-50 years. Johnson helping Kennedy carry Texas is a famous case that is often told, but since then? We shouldn't count a state that would be a given anyway like Indiana with Pence and California with Kamala.GRR Spartan wrote:Mark Kelly is getting support from Cindy and Meghan McCain who said if VP Harris choose him the Democrats will win AZ in November.

Not many have been from swing states in quite a while. Paul Ryan, but he and Mitt lost Wisconsin anyway.

I think we’re at net gain/loss stage on her choice now. Run the numbers, Kamala!
