guys of tSwill - which is everyone but Dendro.. what would you do if your daughter to you that her boyfriend mocked her when she laughed?

Fortunately my daughters, either one, have never suffered fools. All credit to their mother on that. So, if you add, “and they still wanted to date the guy” because I’m 99% sure they both think life is to short and precious to let someone, try to control you in anyway.
But I’d simply tell them I’ll honor their wish to date the guy, but I have to be told when he’s coming over as I won’t be in the house at the same time as he will be.

That’s not justice. Have you never watched the Godfather? And the undertaker’s Daughter had been beaten by the boys who wanted to have sex with her, And the undertaker asked for the favor at The Godfather’s daughters wedding, He wanted the boys killed. Don Corleone, Said “ But that’s not justice, Your daughter is alive still”.
But I don’t know Penn maybe you would.

Yeah, I was overreacting DWags. But I love this country. My parents taught me that. We have unparalleled natural resources. Hardworking people. yep - our daughter's boyfriend - they've been together nearly 4 years - is such a sweet guy. Just genuinely a nice kid and I give his parents so much credit. They're good folks - his Dad is a contractor, works construction and built their house. His Mom is a nurse at UM hospital.DWags wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:America is a stupid country.

I don’t think it’s hate as much as it’s frustration. Look at everything you just said about America. It’s all true. So why in the year 2024 do we still have people not on the same footing as other people? Why can’t we feed our children in schools? Why doesn’t everybody have healthcare? We have the resources we have the ability. We just don’t have the selflessness. This country could indeed be a shiny beacon on the hill, But we choose not to be. And we do it under the same guise that made this country great. “ They need to pull themselves up by the boot straps, Nothing is free in this country”. “ Work hard or get left behind”.
We lost, or maybe we never had, compassion and empathy for those that are unable to do what we do. We can’t understand why they just can’t do what we do, and yes, many of them just refused to, But some don’t because they aren’t able. January 14 until now my leg has cost about a quarter of $1 million to fix. What if I had jumped that woodpile and I had just worked my ass off every day of my life as a custodian in a factory that didn’t give health benefits? Where would that put me? Dead?
So I get Both ends of that. America is a great country, but we often drop the ball because of greed and selfishness. And that’s just stupid

I don't remember paying a dime. I think I may have paid a few co-pays, etc., but I don't remember a lot of things.
that I have fortune and privilege, as an upper-middle class white guy whose union bargained for amazing healthcare - is the reason I'm alive (sorry about that to some of y'all )
we all have our pet issues, whether it's taxes, gun violence, the environment, etc - but I will forever feel a certain degree of 'survivor's guilt' because I was fortunate enough to have health insurance and, because of that, I'm still alive and can be the idiot y'all see before you today.
in the wealthiest country in the world, life vs. paying rent, is a decision nobody should ever have to make.

Bob absolutely loves what this country should be. He hates that it isn't what it should be.
It may not be obvious but my guess is that Bob is an academic in some sort of social science school at MSU and is highly aware of what he says
Re: The major problem in America is that 30 to 35% of Americans believe this.
Maybe he should be more specific then. Saying America is a stupid country because of some idiots is like saying MSU is stupid because of Mel Tucker, in my opinion.Travis of the Cosmos wrote:Penn I think you’re legit confusing what Bob means by stupid. I take an philosophical viewpoint to that question.
If we all think the same way we are weak in that we all have the same weakness. Having people who see different ways of living, as long as most of them believe is a consensus form of government, strengthens us as a whole.
Even our government, with its three branches does this...the legislative branch allows us to work out, over time, the best set of laws, the executive provides, in times of crisis, the strong decision making, and the judiciary keep the other two in line
