tSCOTUS Has Created Buildable Swamps All Around Me
There are wetlands all around Washtenaw County suddenly for sale and some being filled with fill to build on now that tSCOTUS has said the water has to be connected on the surface to be protected.
Not an expert however I read somewhere that these swamps that are connected through the ground to streams & rivers are part of what create the habitable rivers and lakes.

Prepare for lots of flooding problems. If these swamps are no longer protected, do you really think they will properly route the water?

Route the water...
They are just filling them in.
I guess that water will end up on the roads.

Hence the floods. There's a reason why the swamp land exists. You fill it in, the water has to go somewhere.
Most municipalities mitigate this by routing it to selected areas, they might essentially take a lot of swamp land and route it to an area to form a lake which can hold considerably more water covering a smaller acreage and can actually up the value of realestate by creating 'lake front' properties. It's not going to increase like a true large all-sports lake would as these lakes are going to be much smaller and the kind you could put pedal boats on. It's why there's lots of subdivisions in our urban sprawl areas of michigan that are peppered with small lakes which are basically large ponds. They are kind of gross as they aren't managed much and get filled with nutrients from lawn care runoff creating large algae blooms. If they do nothing you're going to end up with lots of problems. And with how the SCOTUS has weakened the EPA and any agency that executes environmental policy, i wouldn't imagine they are being forced to make smart decisions with the water. It's going to be like a situation where they just fill in, build, see what happens. and perhaps...PERHAPS... the few swamps that are left they may be forced to make better decisions with after people realize that they made mistakes.

Re: tSCOTUS Has Created Buildable Swamps All Around Me
I live on a farm, nearest housing development is at the other end of the Township. Someone has 20 acres for sale, over half is swamp or pond. Expecting someone to buy it and fill it, as that is now ongoing with 10 acres in several places for single family dwelling...
