US Health Care Ranked Last Compared to Peers - Why I support A form of Medicare For All
Recent report on US Health Care ranks it last among peers, which is why I am in favor of Medicare for all.
During the 2020 primaries Senator Warren had an MFA proposal and analysis which showed her MFA proposal would be less expensive than the current system and provide better coverage.
I did the numbers, and they added up.
As one who switched from a company Health Plan to traditional Medicare, I can tell you that tMedicare is far better than a company-based health plan, unless you happen to have a gold plated plane, which most likely means one that a union achieved. Forget about Medicare Part C plans, they are a rip-off for private insurance.
I understand the reluctance, due to Reagan's stupid but effective catchphrase, however a national MFA id the best way both economically and for outcomes.
Along with that we should repeal the laws which allow "for profit" corporations in health care in any form; Insurance; providers; or otherwise.
Just my two cents, of course, but there it is.

MFA sounds like too much like FREE and Americans , regardless of where they are on the economic scale don’t like free for other people. Political raw meat for “conservatives”.
I suggest making Medicare an option to all companies that employ up to 500. That would include the monolithic “small businesses” politicians love.
Most of us realize there’s major money in the administration of health insurance. Businesses would be required to offer Medicare as a choice to their employees. That could eliminate HR benefit managers for companies.
I suspect the Medicare option would end up costing the companies less and they’d encourage employees to take the less expensive option.
Companies could add options like we already see currently.

I don’t agree that MFA. Billionaires shouldn’t get benefits from the government. They should pay their own damn way.

How about, fine, go buy your healthcare elsewhere if you want (without subsidy and we're raising the income cap) but the rest of us get part B for $185 a month + part D coverage if you want to buy it regardless of age?

Means testing is bad. Billionaires should get MFA, just like everyone else.

How about we skip MFA and go straight to public healthcare for all. You know...like every other civilized country.

Means testing is always more expensive in itself than the money saved by just giving it to everybody.Cameron wrote:Means testing is bad. Billionaires should get MFA, just like everyone else.
Also, it’s just an excuse not to do something for anyone.
