Trump was busy fighting the Feds on housing discrimination, buying golf courses in the US/Europe and closing casinos in the years Tommy John was on the player eligible ballot.

I think he’s angry at the writers who wouldn’t vote for him because of the surgery that extended his career but angering them again won’t help his cause.

It was reported in The Athletic today, the anniversary of his elbow surgery that John is scheduled to go to hospital in October for surgey. He has bladder cancer. At 81 John knows he’s running out of time.

I had an encounter with Tommy John in the summer of 1984. I was working the valet lot at Carls Chop House ( RIP). Great summer job, made a bunch of money and got to go to parts of 40 games at Tiger stadium.

Anyway, I didn't park his car when he came in but did pull it up when he was leaving. Dude tipped me a quarter. Yep 25 cents. Fuck Tommy John.

No dude, same thing as learning to play the saxophone well. It is all muscle memory which just requires doing the same thing over and over if the physical structure is there to do it. Even dealing with runners on base & the score is muscle memory. Ever notice how people playing sports talk about the game slowing down for them...that is because they have built up muscle memory so they are no longer thinking about the situation consciously, just reacting subconsciously.

Had a biker stop to talk to me about the neighborhood, he had some sort of handlebar electronics which included music and a link to his phone. A fair number of vehicles on our roads, we were on the main drag and there were 35 vehicle an hour, no shoulders to speak of. He did have the flashing lights on his seat if that helps.

I have a computer on my primary road bike.. nothing fancy, but it calculates distance, mph, max mph, etc. It's pretty basic technology that's been around for a couple of decades. I don't do the Garmin or Strava stuff - a lot of people do. It seems like it would take away from my purpose of being out.

I have a light on the handlebar and my seat that I use if it's still a little dark outside. With the later sunrise this time of year, I definitely use those for the first bit of most early morning rides.

I do my best to stay away from roads, especially roads with no bike lanes. I ride a lot of trails, single track and otherwise. It's dangerous enough spinning through the woods with roots, rocks and limbs. I don't need yahoos in trucks/cars amplifying the risk.

There isn't a bike trail within 15 miles of where I live, and the ones that are that close are in A2. If you ride a bike, it's on the roads. Typically, in the summer we see organized rides of 10 to 30 riders, tooling along at 20mph on our roads several times a week.

Although vehicles are of course a hazard, the bigger hazard is dogs.

yeah, not a big fan of dogs coming at me as I'm rolling along at 18-20 mph. Usually a squirt from a water bottle in their face stops them.

I was making $200 a shift for Tigers home games ( We shuttled to the Corner, about 1.5 miles). So John being a cheap ass didn't hurt but it was still a dick move for a guy that was making 500k in 1984. So again, fuck him.
