The problem with poor officials is that football is a game of inches and a few plays. So far OSU has 2 lucky calls, resulting in 14 points, which is really all any team needs

Despite the score, I'm encouraged by our play. We've been able to move the ball. We've made some plays on D. Been the victim of some bad luck and bad calls. It's not crazy to suggest that we should probably have at least 10 more points.

Our trouble finishing drives have plagued us all season, but this is the first time we've played a vastly more talented team, and the fact that the lack of finishing is still most of the difference is another example of the growth potential of this team.

I just entered Crenshaws in claws on with three dance team/cheer squad members from 2015-2019 team for the second half. All three are firing the crowd up. I think we win now. The Ms DWags thinks I should maybe not drink anymore. I disagree.

I disagree. This isn't the year to worry about that. Play him now so that he's better next year. Benching him is just effectively saying that we are giving up on him long term, because he will not be with MSU next year if we bench him. Someone will come along and offer him a boatload of cash, and getting benched won't give him any loyalty. This is the unfortunate reality if college football in 2024.

I would sit him the rest of this game, however. No sense risking getting him injured.

I agree. Let him get the experience and learn in real time. Also, there isn’t a better option. If Schuster was it, Smith would have him on the field.

Maybe it’s Harry High School stuff. Many of his decisions seem to be from a mindset set that I’m the best player on the field and I’ll throw it to my buddy who’s the second best player on the field. Those 75/25 balls are now 25/75 at this level.

I'm not sure that's the issue. It seems like most of his INTs have been just poor throws, not poor decisions/reads. Today's was maybe a combination of both. And there are the overthrown of open receivers that fell incomplete, which is also an accuracy not a read issue.

But Chiles isn't an inaccurate passer in general. He drills some balls into tight windows. So I think that's correctable.

And today was his most accurate game, and considering the opposition, that is very encouraging.

He makes some really really good throws. He’ll miss some as well. It happens. It’s the crazy ones I wished he’d stop. Like wtf were you thinking bad. That ballon ball screen? Huh? He threw the ball away at 3:51 of the 2nd qtr. I was like yes! That’s the right throw. He could have thrown across his body to a kinda open TE I believe. But he didn’t. That was progress. Then he made a couple head scratchers later. He’ll get better. I know he will. I’m not against Smith sitting him for a series just have a talk. “Kid, we can’t have that. I know this, you know this.” Part of growing can be from being pulled for a series or two. I trust Smith.

Watching the offensive stats in the first half there was about 50 yards more by OSU, and MSU only had about half as many offensive plays, so bigger chunks of yardage, in the second half things were much more lopsided, so OSU adjusted at halftime?

38 points with OSU being gifted with 14 in the first half is a beating but in modern college football a real beating is above 50....

One bright spot is fewer penalties

2 red zone fumbles and the turnover on downs probably cost us at least 13 points. Dropping the pick in the end zone would have cost OSU 7 points.

But, that still isn't enough to make up the difference. The 4th quarter was basically a scrimmage with back ups. They're just a better team. We're in a big time rebuild. There are things to work on, and things to build off of. It's a learning process. Hopefully, we learn something and it results in some wins against lesser opponents.
