Her first promise to the crowd: ending the war in Gaza.
“This year has been difficult given the scale of death and destruction in Gaza and given the civilian casualties and displacement in Lebanon,” Harris said.
Harris said she’d do everything in her power to ensure Israel is secure and ensure “Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity, freedom, security and self determination.”

I mean, it's better than saying "I'll make sure it continues indefinitely," but absent any policy specifics, I don't really think it means all that much.

If you accept that what she is promising, to do everything in her power, is all that any President can do, you might need to rethink some of your attacks on Joe Biden. (Of course, you would also need to understand that Congress has passed laws mandating military aid to Israel in the law, something that Biden is forced to follow)

Poll in Israel overwhelmingly supports Trump over Harris as the next US president. 66% for Trump 17% Harris. 17% no opinion.

Not worth rehashing this with you, as we've been over it plenty. Genocide Joe is not doing everything he can, and there are also laws in place that say we cannot continue shipping money and weapons to regimes that are blocking our humanitarian aid and using the resources we send them to commit war crimes. If Kamala is not pledging any specific departure from the current Biden administration policy, then her statement on the matter really isn't worth anything at all.
I will still be voting for her tomorrow, but this doesn't improve my feelings about anything.

We have laws that contradict each other, no real surprise and only the courts can say which ones are in force.

No time like the present to suspend all weapons and aid to Israel in order to test those laws.

If only things were that simple. The US interests do not coincide with Iran's.
Re: Israel war
It’s a very slippery slope when applying financial aid stipulations on countries. Or stipulations on purchasing military hardware. We can all agree that Israel has far overstepped humanitarian boundaries in this war. It would also take about 3 seconds to make a bullet proof case that laws in place in Palestine (or many other place in the ME) prohibit them from any type of aid based on violations of basic human rights to certain groups.

Unfortunately there are too many people in Michigan that wont support her tomorrow, IMO, and while this nightmare can be helped by Biden and Harris now, there is going to be Hell to pay if Trump wins Michigan. When Isreal overwhelmingly supports Trump, 66% - 17%, that should probably tell those here who they should support. But In America, or progressives often stand on Principle. I respect that, but I've never understood why they don't vote the best interest. Even if it's a shitty choice.

I’ve been saying this for years. You have to vote for the least worst choice. If Trump wins Gaza will be wiped from the face of the earth. What will the protesters think then?DWags wrote:Cameron wrote:

Many of them will be too busy dealing with the border patrol raiding their houses to think.

Arab Americans 2024 election choices:
1. Trump: "bend over and take it bitch. This is gonna hurt."

I saw film on the news of these assholes walking around Dearborn behind Trump. Fuck them, smiling. I get they were betwen a rock and a hard place. I get that they weren't pleased with Harris or what they thought she might or might not do. But to go from Business to businee worshiping the guy smiling and aplauding. Fuck them. I would support those idiots if they woudl ahve ignored both candidates. That's not what happened with many leaders in Dearborn and many voters.
And we shouldn't earhole just Dearborn. I get many people didn't want to support Harris, Male, Female, ethnicity, whatever. But if you support Trump publicly like that fuck you.
"The final count in Michigan, where vice president and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris was likely to win, has yet to be called.
But early reports show 47 percent of Dearborn voters backing Trump, with 27 percent of votes going to Harris and 21 percent to Green Party candidate Jill Stein."
Who knows, maybe we're wrong as far as what Trump will do. I'm assuming those people in Dearborn are hoping he does more than Biden/Harris did.
However, Heat, this is one aspect of politics, where, instead of saying "Give them the whole fascist treatment, let them learn". I hope and pray it doesn't happen. You've said it yourself many times on this board. "Give them the Fascist playbook"
Here is one thing where none of us can say, "Good they get what they voted for". We can think their leaders are assholes, but I hope nobody says "Good, I'm glad they get what they voted for"

To be clear, I'm not going to be "glad" about anything. But hard lessons need to be learned. You gotta crack some eggs to make an omelet.
