Way to early 2028 pre general election thread.
Early hot take.
Don’t even think about running Mayor Pete or Big Gretch up the pole.

Anyway have an actual primary where people can let you know what kind of candidate people want to vote for and rally around. Don’t have your little dnc favorites that end up being picked and co opting the whole thing, just let it happen organically and the chips will fall where they may.

I think that is part of it. Dems will throw whatever candidate they want down our throats and tell us we don't have a choice. They just tossed two very unpopular candidates out with the thought of....you have to vote for them or you are bad and Trump will win. It failed them twice now. Almost a third time.
The other thing is the Dems need to take a step back and assess their strategy. Catering to every group and whim isn't working for them - at all. Also, calling anyone that disagrees with you a fascist, racist, sexist or privileged white man has failed at an epic level. People are tired of being insulted because they have different views about something. Why should those people vote for a Dem? Dems have willfully burned those bridges and danced in the glow of the fire.

How the playing field is tilted will be the question.
My guess is after four years there will not be a MSM outlet or WEB site supplier who will allow any free speech or criticism of Republicans

Even if the Democrats listen to voters and don’t act like they’re the smartest people in the room and Candidate X beats VP Vance we will have the SCOTUS conundrum.
If the POTUS gets to limit appointments to 12 -14-16 year terms AND it would get legislative approval the GOP would challenge and it would go to The SCOTUS.
Continuous loop.

My initial pick is Gavin Newsom. But I would also entertain the most progressive person the Bernie crowd wants to push. It’s time to find out if a far left candidate really could win.

The American public rejected the idea of a San Francisco liberal who is soft on crime, and wants to give trans inmates sex changes. And your idea is to move further left?!? That's a bold strategy, Cotton...

Newsom isn’t further left. He’s been recently cracking down on some of the liberal horseshit like homeless camps and sanctuary cities. And he has the charisma that Harris lacked.TravelinMan wrote:PennSpartan wrote:My initial pick is Gavin Newsom. But I would also entertain the most progressive person the Bernie crowd wants to push. I was responding more to your "further left than Bernie" comment.
I am glad Newsom is tackling the homeless problem. Until that's cleaned up, there's no chance he can win any kind of national office.
Why don't you like Shapiro? Every interview I see him in impresses me. He seems smart, quick, funny, and down to Earth. Of course I'd expect you, being a PA resident, to maybe be more in tune than I am.

So stop pandering to the extremists and nominate someone electable! Let Bernie cry about his socialist 1% bullshit. He's a meme. Let the WNBA cry about trans minority athletes needing sex changes for 8 year olds. America doesn't care. If you want to address that shit, do it after you get elected, not as a primary talking point on the campaign.

You haven’t learned, TM. The Democratic Party is here to parent the progressives. To pay their debts, provide daycare for their kids, pay for their healthcare, and anything else Bernie can dream up. They should change the logo from a donkey to a giant teat.TravelinMan wrote:PennSpartan wrote:

Right now, the Dems are seen as a self-righteous, know-it-all, scold. Americans don't want to hear about why they should apologize for their "privilege." Americans don't want to walk past homeless tents on their way to the grocery store. Americans want to drive their pick up trucks and not be made to feel guilty about the environment. People like Pelosi and the Obamas will demand that the rich pay their fair share without a shred of irony. Dems need to stop thinking about how to shove their agendas down American's throats, and start thinking about how to apply their agendas to what Americans will actually elect.

Re: Way to early 2028 pre general election thread.
Man I can't even think about this stuff. When I start thinking about all the crap that we know is coming over the next 2-4 years, my anxiety just raises. I'd like to think that at least my company in manufacturing would do better but it's basically a Republican perpetuated myth that they are better for the economy. And so I'm left with thinking about trump tearing down our institutions and molding this country more into something that will spread and perpetuate right wing values. I could see religious schools getting a lot more funding, churches being allowed to campaign, crap like that which will strengthen the right long term. Their main plans are basically to reduce Hispanic birth rates and increase white birth rates. That's the collective goal of the deportation and anti abortion efforts. To not be out numbered and it's despicable. Its all so overwhelming. I think I need to just take a step back and be a good citizen and watch TV shows, ya know, Netflix and chill. Forget about all the bad shit they are doing.

whoever it is, it'll have to be a white male.
why:
2016: the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator, convicted rapist and convicted felon defeats a white female.
2020: the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator, convicted rapist and convicted felon loses to a white male.
2024: the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator, convicted rapist and convicted felon defeats a female of color.
not only is America stupid country, but it's a racist misogynistic one, as well.
