Look I know you have said you play an ah on here but you could at least apply a teaspoon of logic to your posts.

Nowhere did I ever say I expected it to get fixed in a day or two. There is a vast gulf between arming and funding a genocide and instantly solving peace in the middle east. For a nuance worshipper such as yourself, this should be much easier to grasp.

Take away all the sarcasm and you have just attacked your own position regarding the slaughter in Gaza. The United States has larger goals in the middle east, number one being maintaining shipping through the region. Gaza, sadly for the Palestinians, is somewhat a side show.

If the U.S. pulled every dime of assistance to Israel, nothing would change. They have lots of money.

One thing would change. The United States would have even less influance on Israel.

And of course there have been no interruptions or impacts on shipping in the region since 10/7, right?

Stopping our funding of Israel's genocide would not make shipping worse, that's very dumb.

They have lots of money, but it is very incorrect to assert that nothing would change if we pulled all financial and military support.

The fairytale people live in is adorable. We will never live in a world of geopolitics where everyone gets along like Whoville. We’ll never not get our hands a little dirty. We’ll never not help others get theirs dirty. Fantasyland my friends. Fantasyland. Stop expecting Jews and Arabs to get along. Fucking stop. Stop expecting the US to not have an interest in it either. Stop excusing preventable deaths. Stop canonizing equally atrocious behavior on the other side.

The only US President from CA was Reagan where he'd been governor for 6 years (3 two year terms). Reagan also lost the nomination to Ford in '76.

Harris was done no favors getting the nomination pretty much by default with little notice to run against Trump who announced he was running on June 16, 2015 ran a non-stop campaign that ended on Nov 4 2024. That's 3376 days of being in the news as a candidate, president then former President running for President vs VP has who had 143 days as a national candidate.

From that perspective if Harris had prevailed it would have been a bigger story than Trump winning.

Besides being a perpetual candidate in the news for 3376 days, Trump was on 192 episodes of The Apprentice over 15 seasons from 2004 to 2017. That's another 13 years in the national eye.

For reference, Harris became San Francisco DA in Jan '04 thru Jan '11.

Valid arguments. The flip side is that the short campaign caught the Pubs flat footed. They didn't have years to build oppo & demonize her like they did Hilary.

The GOP didn’t have much time to research Harris so they mis-represented the office of VP as something larger than it was like Harris being in charge of the border. She could make suggestions but President Biden would have had to sign off.

James Nance Garner from TX had been House Speaker for 1 term then was FDR’s VP for two terms.

Garner described the job of VP as “not worth a bucket of warm piss” which was sanitized to warm spit.

That's not exactly rocket science, any politicians in the last 30 years would have done the same to a sitting VP they were running against for the next president job. It looks a little different with Trump chopping up videos to make it sound like harris ordered prisons to give gender affirming care, but that strategy is basically the most basic one you can do in this situation. It helps that they had already propaganda'd biden into unpopularity even though he was fine to have him to tie her to.

I’m the Democratic Party - Page 2 Empty Re: I’m the Democratic Party

Joe promised to be a transitional president and he has done that and more. I believe we owe him our thanks for returning to fact based governance. I am proud to be part of his administration. Like all public servants in decision making positions he and I have made mistakes. We got a bipartisan immigration bill that we couldn't get passed but even co-led by republican representatives we should have had it and passed it earlier. We've had an excellent recovery from Covid and its economic impacts including inflation but that recovery has not yet been enough for everyday Americans to recover from its costs. That's why my administration will focus on extending the tax cuts for working class Americans and repeal those cuts and increase taxes for the wealthiest among us for whom the economic conditions have made no impact or have even profited. In my opinion we have watched the execution of the war in Gaza go on too long and while we support Israel and Israelis my administration will stop funding the military aspect of Netanyahu's war that was justly initiated on Hamas. It is time to have some bolder ideas that work for all of us including those who will not vote for my but who I hope to serve.

We could have got something like that. We didn't.
