You actually watched a um game msu wasn't playing in? That's a commitment to scouting right there.

Second half. Michigan was up on Arkansas by 15 in the first half. They were down by 18 in the second. They then went on a huge run and cut it back down to two.
Wolf was incredibly active. A 7 footer dribbling between his legs and one hand passing for assists. Muscling down Arkansas big men.
They end up losing 89-87. But their two big men in the one half I saw are better than our guys. We can beat them but they have a better team and way better coach than last year.

Not to be too snarky but they would have had to do a detailed search for a new coach to be worse coached than last year.

I loosely followed what was going on in the offseason. The new guys seems to be pretty energetic and has his shit together. Completely turned over their roster with some higher rated porthole guys (which I could not name). Watched bits and pieces of a couple of games and they looked pretty good. Definitely going to give teams trouble in the BIG.
I wish Juwan was still there.

Wolf looked pretty good. Can't let him pick and roll with Goldin.
Arkansas' defense was terrible. Michigan's wasn't much better.
We are also much deeper than Arkansas, so that will help. And Goldin gets tired.
Zapala and Coop can cover Goldin. Kohler and Book on Wolf.
They are a much better team for sure.

Once again, Doug Gottlieb let his mouth get him in trouble. The radio host, credit card thief, and now head coach of Wisconsin Green Bay made what many took as a slight to upcoming opponent Michigan Tech. Then Tech went out and beat the running Gottliebs by a bucket on UWGB’s home court.

He says in 2023 they make the final four, that bring his top. Eight players came into his office, asking to make a better deal for an NIL.

I’m kind of surprised Tom still puts up with all the new BS. I might’ve called it a career when a player’s “people” started getting in the way. At least TI’s players haven’t bolted en masse for bigger paychecks the way they did at Miami.

Izzo is doing something to keep his players. I'm sure he hates it and loves it at the same time.

Because it was their only D1 game. We counted it as an exhibition. 8-3 so far, should have beat the #1 team in the county at their place. Bad conference loss before Christmas though

I saw this interview on ESPN. I had to turn it off. This guy not only threw everyone but himself under the bus, he got in the bus and drove it back and forth over their bodies.

Do any of you think Izzo wanted to say something along those lines with his last two teams but bit his tongue? Our three best players from those teams were very good basketball players, but none of them had that dawg in them. Hauser Walker and Hall. Great kids glad they were Spartans but didn’t burn hot in many games.

I don’t see how you’re not called into the athletic Director’s office after that. A dude threw everybody under the bus from staff to players called them out by name. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

Maybe he's trying to get fired.
Back in the day, a Coach might get a visit from the AD. Now? Probably not.
Tough love can work (and plenty of coaches still use it), but in public like that?
They're @ Maryland next game (and Maryland has lost two in a row). We'll see how they respond.

What's the chances it's due to B1G basketball being "different"?
No gimmes, all physical... You don't make a team for that grind you melt down.

They were playing Michigan, right?
Is Michigan all that defensively minded this year, I don't pay attention, but it seemed like they were winning a bunch of high scoring games.

Michigan has two big guys that are gonna be a lot of trouble for people underneath. When I think of a physical game, I think of mixing it up underneath the boards.. I didn’t watch the game last night, but I do believe one of the coaches comments were that nobody could rebound for UCLA under the boards.
I’m guessing Izzo will use all of our big men and most of their fouls beating those two guys up underneath. One of the guys that Michigan has is the real deal.. he’s gonna have to be muscled when we play them

Actually UCLA has the lowest PPG allowed in the Big Ten. UM's big went off, and they shot 15-28 from 3. Both teams aren't deep.

Zapala/Cooper on Goldin.
Kohler/Booker on Wolf. Carr could also defend Wolf if needed.
They're not deep. We're going to run on them.

Sounds like Michigan just isn't a good matchup for UCLA then, strength verses weakness.

Didn't watch, so no idea how the game played out. Sometimes you just miss shots. It's a long season.
#1 Tennessee got boat raced by Florida last night. Lost by 30. Burn the tape. Move on.

They lose by 18 to Maryland and he gets ejected. Somebody has to put a couple arms around him and have a nice talk with him. I think he’s losing his mind.

He's a psycho. Not a great look (again). And I don't think you get to rip on officials without getting fined (but, I could be wrong).
Maybe he thinks blaming the refs will make his team forget that he called them soft.
The job might be too big for him.

USC leading Illinois At Illinois by 8 with the ball and 8 seconds left. They’re dribbling it out. Illinois concedes. USC runs at the basket and dunks it.
82-72 final.
