Driving back from Up North - tried a new grubstop
Heading back yesterday, from a wedding outside TC on Saturday and Mrs. Fairway & I decided to try the Blue Gator in Mt. Pleasant.
We like cajun cooking, but the best cajun place in Michigan is Lagniappe in Marquette - which is really geographically challenging.
So we decided to give this place a shot - . We almost didn't go in as it looked closed and the place next door looked like it had been in a fire.
The menu includes jambalaya, boiled crawfish, muffalotta, gator bites, couple more cajun dishes and then some 'Merica food (burgers/steaks/such), we only had gumbo & some shrimp appetizers but it was good enough to make the list of places to go back again. It is a sports bar (with some Michigan brewery selection on tap - Bob, looking at you), and somehow it was virtually empty at 6pm on a Sunday, right in downtown, Mt. Pleasant, better than stopping for fast food and service was pretty quick so it didn't make for an unnecessarily long stop.
Also a quick update for those of you interested - the Bluebird in Leland still has an awesome brunch.

I could count on one hand the number of times I've actually been to Mt. Pleasant (where, oddly enough, it's not mountainous nor terribly pleasant) - anyway.. might be heading up that way on a mountain bike trip (not in Mt Pleasant, but going through Mt Pleasant) fairly soon..

I wouldn't necessarily go up there just to eat there, but if I was in Mt Pleasant I would certainly go there again.Robert J Sakimano wrote:so was the food okay at the joint in Mt Pleasant?

Good to know mt pleasant has stepped up its game. Seems like a town where people eat road kill.
