How underappreciated is Rush?
Over the past four years he has played a key role on some great defenses. Can any player claim to be a 4-year starter on a defense that has had a 4 year run like the Spartan defense? (Yes there is Jones, but he split starts with Norman his first year.) Not only is he reliable at run containment, but he can also rush the passer. People talk about Calhoun a lot and that is understandable, but I think we don't give enough appreciation for the job Rush has done in his four years here. I don't have a doubt that he will be a NFL player.
Edit: Why do I have that frog and note about Imageshack as my avatar? I miss Gruff!

Rush will be missed more next year than Calhoun, IMO. I'm not sure how you replace a 4 year starter who is solid like he is and I don't know why he doesn't get as much press. Although I do think he was a Freshman AA.

I remember when after hearing about him tearing it up in practice, he took the field, and everyone was like "Wait, Marcus Rush is white?".
I agree with the OP, he has been a gamer his whole career. They guy brings a street fight on every play.

Not as much as before but the "synth" era of the 80s is still looked down upon by many fans. Grace Under Pressure will always be one of my favorite albums. These guys are just so good at their craft.

That reminds me of the other thing I was going to put in the original post. It seems like anytime the offense tries to run a screen in his direction he sniffs it out and is standing right next to he running back. One of these times he is going to pick it off and rumble in for a touchdown MSU!

He's really just a gym rat. Always in the right spot. I'd compare him to a guy like Wes Welker of the Broncos.

Re: How underappreciated is Rush?
Rush is definitely a great football player. I really respect guys that play at a high level and maintain a low profile. There are too many players out there that run their mouths and act like fools. It's refreshing to have a player like Rush who just brings it every single game without drawing attention to himself. His play does the talking.tTito wrote:http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/108896/michigan-states-rush-is-silent-but-deadly

Nice highjack, asshole.
In one sentence, you showed yourself to be a brain-dead liberal that 1) never listens to Limbaugh, 2) accuses people of "racism" as a strategy to avoid engaging in intellectual examination of ideas, 3) accuses conservatives of having no compassion and being "mean-spirited" yet is venomous and hateful toward those that oppose them politically- especially when that opponent is especially effective.
Just admit it, you hate Limbaugh because he exposes your kind to be the small-minded asses that you are. And your ignorant, childish attacks on him only provide proof of that fact.
You are comfortable being intellectually lazy and liberalism is the perfect platform because it requires nothing more than the demonization of people like Limbaugh to make you feel that you are a "good person". But the main thing is, you don't have the balls to openly oppose people like Obama, Jessie Jackson, Bill Clinton and their ilk because you are afraid of being criticized, mocked and ostracized by other clueless, gutless and ignorant liberals. You would then be a "bad person". So, the cost is too high. There is no such cost for opposing conservatives as they try to reason with those that oppose them, not demean, mock or them.
Almost all conservatives and libertarians were once liberals. Our "problem" with liberals is not being disagreed with, it is the pig-headed refusal by liberals to engage the issues with the slightest degree of intellectual honesty that is annoying. Willful ignorance and intellectual cowardes.
