yep - I actually wondered about you this morning. I was not envious - the forearms will get better, glad the back is okay.
I picked this Saturday to be my "annual day edge the beds and move some mulch" - so, I'll get in a good ride Saturday morning, then get to work. My goal is to be wrapped up by lunch.

literally just got in from mowing - hot as hell outside - and I wore pants, long sleeves (buttoned up) and a hat for this reason (also bees and mosquitos) - but definitely a good idea to stay covered and inspect thyself when coming out of the woods or anything remotely vegetational in its natural state.

I'm about to mow as well. Temp here is 80 with a dew point of 64. What do you have for a mower Bob? I'm using a John Deere 14pz push mower, vintage 1990s with a B&S 190cc flat head.

(get your head out of the gutter)
“Rucking is a form of physical exercise that involves walking or hiking with a loaded backpack or rucksack, typically over varying distances and terrains,” says Peloton instructor Logan Aldridge. Simply add sandbags or other weighted objects to your backpack, and you have a workout that you can do anywhere.
legs are pretty spent from 4-5 days of hard riding, a bit of running. So I felt like some low impact, but weighted hiking would be a good idea. Pretty sweet temp out, 58° but the dew point is rising.
y'all do anything fun this weekend?

No I do not walk with my own clubs. I don't know anyone in S. Florida that would do that during the summer. I did like when I was in Oregon, I'd say over 50% were walking with push or electric carts, which I thought was pretty cool. The best was the bluetooth controlled carts that followed people around.

I get it - I caddied at a couple of courses back in the late 80's, early 90's up in the NC mountains. Was actually a lot of fun.InTenSity wrote:No pants, only shorts.Robert J Sakimano wrote:

I haven't been on a golf course in 20 years. I'm probably going to take it up again this summer at some point, but being followed around by my bag sounds scary.

A pair of bills passed out of the Michigan House Tuesday with bipartisan support are part of a larger bicameral initiative to give prosecutors new options to charge motorists who hit “vulnerable roadway users.”
The effort was inspired in part by a June 2016 crash in Kalamazoo County that killed five bicyclists, injured four more and already prompted a 2018 law that requires drivers to keep a 3-foot distance from cyclists.

love the concept of this and it's obviously important, but it sounds like the sort of thing that can only be applied to a driver once it's a bit too late for the cyclist.Floyd Robertson wrote: Michigan House OKs new penalties for drivers who hit bicyclists, runnersA pair of bills passed out of the Michigan House Tuesday with bipartisan support are part of a larger bicameral initiative to give prosecutors new options to charge motorists who hit “vulnerable roadway users.”

I said in another thread, I used to do a lot of cycling on the long two lane roads up through Laingsburg, Perry, down back into Bath, toward EL - I have no idea how I didn't die. One day - not after any incident or anything - I thought 'wtf am I doing' and haven't ridden those roads since. Probably 8-10 years now.
I mainly do a lot on secondary roads in/around EL with bike lanes, hit the various trails, loops around Lake Lansing, maybe into Williamston (some good, wide bike lanes there) and back.
or I just mountain bike single tracks.. which, can be perilous, but usually the level of peril is related to my technical abilities vs someone going "Facebook Live" or whatever as they're smoking cigs and driving to work, running over a few folks along the way.

I tend to stick to the gravel in Fall and Spring, mostly roads/trails in the summer.
nice work!
Good trail. It goes 36 miles out, I only went out 16 of that. I've been as far up as Dryden. After that it turns more "rustic", almost like a single track from what I saw.

They set her up with a Liv (female frame, I guess that's all they make) complete with adjustable front shocks, disc brakes but only 8 speeds, one cog on the front.
Oh, I had a tire blow out the other day. Fortunately only one mile from home. Do you care tire irons and a spare tube?

(sort of)
as Floyd said, I (almost) always carry a spare tube, tire tools, etc. I snapped a chain once about 3 miles into a single track trail, had nothing to repair it with. Long walk back to the car.
that's cool about your wife - my wife, too, is pretty active, and, while 97% of the time, I go out by myself, we do a few things together. In fact, we went out to Sleepy Hollow last Friday and rode the trails, she did a few running trail races I did back in the spring. We're old, empty nesters - so we have a lot of time to just do what we enjoy nowadays. Fun to share those things.
enjoy, dude - be safe out there.

I wad diagnosed with hypothyroidism around 16 years ago. And it gets out of whack sometimes. I got that sorted out, and back to watching meals. I've never done WW.
Losing some of the weight by diet first, made it a little easier to get back to working out again because of asthma issues I have.
I'm sure once I'm out of this phase, I will screw it all up like I usually do. And stupid women's bodies make everything harder.
