Just watch "I love you man". They go to one in the movie, pretty much sums up what the experience will be

Worth it just to see Neil Peart, arguably the best drummer of all time.

I was the same until the Clockwork Angels tour in 2013. Finally went and goddamn it they were really good.
If you don't get on this tour you're going to have limited opportunities in the future. Neil Peart has chronic tendonitis and it ain't getting any better.

Don't forget Lifeson's arthritis, it's hell getting old.

After watching the I love you man and South Park clips, I want to go more. Better make a playlist to get to know the songs better.

How is it you relate so well to the average swill poster? (Middle aged white dude that grew up in the 80s and knows every Rush song by heart)

I'm a fan of the classics man. I can appreciate history and music today has nothing on the older shit. I usually like older music and movies better. I'm not your typical bro.

Actually, do not even watch the concert. Just look at it through your phone while you record the whole thing.

Never seen Rush live myself, but one of my friends has seen them multiple times and can't recommend it highly enough. Probably well worth the price of admission.

Geddy Lee's voice annoying.. and not much into the 80's prog-rock scene.xsanguine wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:never been into Rush.. not sure why.

Re: Should I go to a rush concert ?
I saw them in 2007 and it was a good show. Played all my favorites except "Red Barchetta." Highly recommend seeing them, especially because I've read this will is their last large-scale tour.
I might see them again...or I might use the money towards seeing the Rolling Stones or the Grateful Dead (tickets are super-expensive).

Rush I feel like is a "love it or hate it" kind of band. I like Lee's voice, but I really like how talented he and Neil Peart are at their respective instruments. It's incredible that Lee plays bass at that level while simultaneously singing and doing keyboard.

Heard on the radio that Randy Johnson (the HOF baseball pitcher) is a photographer now and is apparently taking photos for Rush. You should go just to see The Big Unit.

I don't disagree. Definitely difficult to argue their level of musicianship.HT wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:

Re: Should I go to a rush concert ?
I respect Rush, they've never really been my cup of tea but I bet seeing them live would be amazing.
Regarding drummers, the one drummer I was fired up to see live was Charlie Watts. Saw him in Spartan Stadium and he was incredible.

Yeah, I thought so, too. He majored in photojournalism at USC, and apparently he now has a niche doing concert photography.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:Giant Moose wrote:Heard on the radio that Randy Johnson (the HOF baseball pitcher) is a photographer now and is apparently taking photos for Rush. While attending USC in Los Angeles for three years ’83-’85 on a baseball scholarship,I majored in photojournalism. At that time,I got hands-on experience in the art and craft of photography, shooting for the “Daily Trojan”,our college newspaper, and a small rock n’ roll magazine in Los Angeles. While baseball became my occupation for over two decades, photography remained my great passion.
Beginning with my first summer vacation in 26 years in 2010,I shot motorsports, concerts, people & places. I’ve been privileged to take seven USO tours to visit our men and women who serve our Country. Iraq, Kuwait, Okinawa, Cuba, South Korea, Italy, Afghanistan, Africa and Germany (God Bless Our Troops!). I’ve also been a contributing photographer for major media outlets with many photos featured in Stars And Strips Magazine, Rolling Stone Magazine, Spin Magazine, Metal Hammer Magazine, Score Baseball Card Company, AOL Online. Also have been on the road with several friends working to capture moments on stage to have them used in Tour Programs, Posters, T-shirts, Books, CD booklets and band Web-Sites.
As much as I enjoyed the thrill of pitching a perfect game and winning a World Series, I get similar satisfaction from using my photography skills to try and capture that defining moment in time.
The ride has been great, but is far from done. I look forward to seeing places I’ve never visited and shooting things I’ve never seen. Always shooting with my Good-Eye closed.
