Private Messaging Question

Pretty simple - I hope. Why has a PM I'm trying to send been sitting in my Outbox for 45 minutes. Shouldn't the message go instantaneously and then reside in my Sentbox?

Apologies in advance if I'm being a dumbass - I am on my second drink.  

It sits in the outbox until the person you sent it to logs on, I think

Follow up...Why does the PM conversation have 2 of the same message all the time?

Follow up. Why are we notified of pms?

Thanks. That makes sense and actually is a useful feature - an unfamiliar feeling after 40+ months of message board purgatory.

Not sure on the second question.  Heat will probably jump in and part the waters soon enough.

Oops. I do have some in my outbox that have been there for awhile.
