Almond milk
So, I'm watching PBS with the wife last night, chatting up the draft experts on tSwill, and pounding almond milk.
Life can't get any better.
Is it really milk though? Or is it made out of soy beans?

It's new. All the hip products will eventually make their way to Arizona.
I think it's supposed to be like milk, but without the good flavor of milk.

If you're so civilized, why do you have to take so many words from the French? Is it because they conquered you?Cym Jim wrote:

Posting a link does not indicate support for either position. However I realize there are ppl on this board who care about "milk".

Re: Almond milk
Will the FDA have to pay to update Mirriam Webster's dictionary? We're gonna have to remove 2 a & b. Not my tax dollars!
1 a : a fluid secreted by the mammary glands of females for the nourishment of their young
b (1) : milk from an animal and especially a cow used as food by people (2) : a food product produced from seeds or fruit that resembles and is used similarly to cow's milk coconut milk soy milk
2 : a liquid resembling milk in appearance: such as
a : the latex of a plant
b : the contents of an unripe kernel of grain
3 : lactation cows in milk

The FDA doesn't give 2 shits about the dictionary.
Try being in the food business and using that one - they'll shut your ass down as they laugh at your naivete.

The FDA doesn't really give a shit about consumers, either. Otherwise, they wouldn't have guidelines that allow for both "Sell By" and "Best By" date categories, which does nothing more than breed confusion.

lol, I'm not overly defending the FDA. I've tangled with them many times. you're aware that the producer gets to set both of those dates? Everything I produced I got to pick the sell by. How accurate they are depends on how much you care about your reputation.

lol, honestly I was not aware of that. I assumed the FDA had guidelines. Like if eggs are laid on date X then they are good for y days and that has the be the "best by" date on the carton.

Wait... So there potentially is no real science behind "sell by"? ...And really the only way to tell if something shouldn't be eaten is smelling it?LooseGoose wrote:Floyd Robertson wrote:

Whoa, I think this is the same realization that, for the most part, doctors don't know shit about most things. Nothing is concrete in this world. Science is a lie. We are all just one badly managed yogurt labeling firm from destruction. ug.
