It was probably worse than C Rog's thing. Chuck wasn't a very bright dude but I think I knew what kind of ship he was on and what was at stake for his future.

Horrible look for Cam Newton. That post game press conference was ridiculous. He wouldn't even answer the softball questions. I was hoping one of the writers would ask him why he didn't dive for the fumble when they desperately needed it down 16-10. That play basically sealed the game for Denver. Newton had a great year but he looked horrible on and off the field tonight.

Never liked Cam Newton. Too full of himself. I wanted to see Peyton Manning get one more Super Bowl and I wanted to see Cam Newton get humbled. I got both in one game.

Watching that pre-game interview with Cam Newton just made my skin crawl. He's just like Kobe Bryant, so absolutely fake and full of himself it just oozes from every pore of his skin.

As much as I dislike him, I respect his talent and competitive spirit and I was shocked when he backed away from that fumble. I found myself making an excuse for him, thinking thst maybe he thought the ball was going to bounce that way or something. The more I watched it, the more it just looked like he got scared seeing the intensity of the Denver player going in there and Newton was like, whoa, fuck that! Then, when he threw a temper tantrum after getting hit in the endzone, I realized that he was mentally broken.

I didn't get worked up over his celebrations or his overall way he conducted himself during the season at all. The NFL could use some more outspoken personalities. But not owning up to his play in the postgame press conference was bush league. He's got some growing up to do.

Agree with Pylon. No big deal about his celebrations, and frankly, that's great, the NFL is pure entertainment, let them be creative and have fun. Opposing team who don't like it, can just keep him out of th eendzones. Love the commercials, love his brashness, the nfl needs that IMO.

However, my man needs to know how to handle it form the other end.

Even if he doesn't believe all that stuff, it goes a long way to shutting up fans who don't like him, and pleasing fans who do.

Oh, and DIVE ON THE GOD DAMN BALL, THE GAME WAS STILL WINNABLE AT THAT POINT.

And it's not just that it's the Super Bowl, it's the particular game situation at that time. If he had done it in the first half, I'd think, "Ok, that was a pussy move, but there's a lot of game left and they'll need him healthy." When there's under 5 minutes left and you're down by 6, holy shit, I can't even fathom how your thought is anything other than jumping on that ball.

Ok, I guess maybe I could fathom one reason, perhaps being that the Denver guy was on the ground reaching, and the Carolina OL is about to come over the top of the Denver guy after it, so he could have been anticipating it squirting out back toward him. But it that entered into his head at all, he'd have been smart to come out and take the initiative right away by saying that. If it comes out with that, or any other reasoning, today, tomorrow, or whatever, it's going to come off as B.S. where his people sat around coming up with a way for their guy to not look like he completely pussed out with the game on the line in the Super Bowl.
