Time for the NCAA to get a spine, do a quick and thorough investigation and take action against Butch Jones and Tennessee.

Time for the NCAA to take a step back and get serious about prevention of sexual assault perpetuated by college athletes.

The NCAA has been dragging their feet for a few years now with UNC, they aren't getting a spine anytime soon.
How does the NCAA get serious about the prevention of sexual assault? That one would be harder to police. I don't think you can kick kids off the team or out of school for the accusation and anyone convicted will most likely be off whatever team they are on. Its such a tough situation. False accusations are going to hurt the accused, but the victims of sexual assault need some sort of resolution as well.

yes, there's false accusations (Duke Lacrosse case) but when I see stuff like Penn State, Peyton Manning, Gibbons, and many more cases that you hear about. it's pretty damn clear there's a major problem. Here's a clear example where a coach is trying to sweep the problem under the rug. That's very unsettling.

The NCAA needs to clean this up, and I think it would start from stronger leadership at the top.

Regarding UNC, what a joke. Profs have already been fired but they can't weigh in on the athletic program?

Pitino is so close to retirement age, so he won't be fired. Forced out? Maybe, but they'll spin it as a retirement and all will be fine. He probably then takes a gig on ESPN or something and it would be cool.

I think Butch Jones get fired, though. He's not really all that of a big name and he hasn't really done anything all that impressive to warrant taking a risk and keeping him.

Those are all high profile cases. There are hundreds of lower profile cases that I'm sure happen. The problem is, how do you protect both parties? Just the accusation alone is pretty damning in most instances. I agree though, they can't continue to try to cover it up though.

Pitino appears pretty sleazy, but if nothings happened by now, I'm not holding my breath. Jones, on the other hand, if the reports are true, is way over the line. Shouldn't take the NCAA to sort it out, if Tennessee wants to retain any credibility, they should clean it up ASAP.

Jones, is in trouble here. And the reason why he's in more trouble than Pitino is because he hasn't won enough games. Pitino has a Natty that long ago. The Fulmer Cup is so named for a reason.

Pitino should be in more trouble though because he either knew and was complicit or didn't know and shows a complete lack of control of his team. Butch Jones still has the option to deny all of the accusations.

Hell, before its over the UT AD and Jones may be gone. Pitino has notoriety. Unless you live in Tennessee most football fans couldn't pick Butch Jones out of a line up.

After an investigation of the men’s basketball program spanning more than a year, the NCAA has delivered its Notice of Allegations to the University of Louisville and has charged the men’s basketball program with four Level One violations.

Louisville gets a chance to respond. Then the NCAA answers and by the time its finished Pitino rides off into the sunset and his son's reputation is pretty much unblemished. About the only job the son won't get is Louisville's for a decade.

Well, it'ss about time somebody paid for North Carolina's violations. I thought it would be a school like Oakland U. Seems they're going to make a second level team pay for the Tar Heels this time. That's getting serious.
