Different teams. Jim Leyland was able to manage the team Dombrowski built and it was built through trades for experienced MLB players.
Ausmus has a different cast of players and for whatever reasons hey aren't hitting whe they are getting good pitcher performances. When they do get runs the bullpen is as bad as its been for several seasons.

Avila will probably tell Ausmus to leave by the All Star break but seeing all the deficiencies the 2016 Tigers have they wouldn't be contending for the AL Central if they could raise Sparky Anderson from the dead to takeover as manager.

I miss my dad when I watch or listen to the Tigers. Best memory of the new park was taking him to Yankees tigers a year before he died sitting in boxes behind the dugout and his arm around me for about three innings. Fuck them for getting so shitty.

Man that's powerful. caused me to reflect on the games I went to with my dad. First game I went to was in 83 or so in tiger stadium. I loved that old park they should have kept the damn thing.

Even though Kinsler can drive me nuts with his base running at times, his play does remind me often of what a great deal trading Prince for him was.
