I have the easiest solution to this. I tweeted it to Dean Blandino or whatever the fuck his name is. He ignored me. Asshole.

Just watch some catches on video. Time them with a stopwatch. Get a panel. Vote on them. When is it a catch. After 1 second? 1.5? 2.0? 2.5? Once everyone agrees, that's your benchmark for your stupid replay system. Fuck going to the ground. Fuck anything else. You hold the ball for 1.5 seconds? Catch. Science. How does it work.

It's not "making the calls right" per say. It's bringing things like "process of the catch" to be a thing for assholes like mike pereira to talk endlessly about. That kind of thing was never discussed before, and honestly there were less "what the fuck is this rule now?" Moments because the ref could just employ common sense. I thought it was better when the ref made a call and usually it was right but sometimes it was wrong, deal with it.

My least favorite part of SNF is that clown collinsworth on EVERY touchdown replay - "well first lets look to see if they completed the process/crossed the line/stayed down/some other random thing that could call the td back"
