Bad Beats
Love that segment and it reminds me why I can't bet. But Nevada New Mexico they showed was awesome.

The one thing I miss about sportscenter.. never have it on unless there's a game on. I don't mind SVP. Then again, I've been watching bad beats on my own tv for as long as wbh. Okay, maybe not that long.

It's a segment in van pelts show on ESPN where you're winning a bet until the very end of a game where often a garbage hoop or fluke fumble for touchdown when you could kneel and shit like that. Every week there are about four good bad beats.

Re: Bad Beats
I know nobody likes hearing these but here's the worst bad beat story of my life:
Playing 1/2 no limit at Soaring Eagle pretty soon after i turned 18. I had around 400 in my stack and was booking a solid win (usually buy in for $250). I don't remember how the action went, but I had AQ and flopped top two pair (A Q and then a blank on the flop). Got it all in against a drunk idiot with one pair, A6. So i'm thinking, sweet, i'm about to have a fuckload of money in front of me. Turn was a 6. Haha, funny. The river was a fucking 6. He had me covered. To make things worse, two of my buddies were at another table where the bad beat jackpot hit and they each got $1000.

Oh, I think I have seen that show here and there. Not that segment though. Is SVP still on the radio? He had that "cool but awkward sports guy that can't get a girl" schtick down to perfection. We all knew a guy just like him in college.

I'd rather a poker room not even have that stupid thing btw

the $1 drop to the BBJ isn't really a big deal, you should read the arguments people get into over $4 vs $5 max drop rake..... I mean for a small BBJ like the one you are describing they might as well not even do it. At room like the Borgata I have played when the BBJ was over 250K and it draws in tons of dead money trying to hit it...Think about a pay out of 100K, 50K, 14.3K each.
PS Cool story bro, the actor that played Anthony Jr on the Sopranos hit a pretty large BBJ at the Borgata a number of yeas ago, did not tip out the dealers. He is persona non grata as a result.

I have no idea what's going on, either - I figured that "Bad Beats" was either a rapper that is all the rage with suburban white kids or a corporate country music megastar.CheesySpartan wrote:I need a "translate" button for this thread.

A BBJ costs extra but if you're a regular client they'll usually throw it in for free.

Re: Bad Beats
Speaking of SVP, I'm glad his boy Russillo is being cut off of ESPN Radio for most of his show. Kanell just drags him down. Kanell is just a troll on the radio.
It's sad that I'd rather listen to Stephen A Smith from 1-3, but thank God Rich Eisen is on at the same time. Rome too.

I've had so many bad beats they don't really register any more. I don't really remember any of them even.

Couldn't get home in time for even a short nap. I'm going to be a zombie by dinner, or 10 pm, whichever comes first. Hell, I'm already dragging ass and have the stares. This must be what it feels like to be anyone who has to listen to Turtleneck blather on.

No shit. the bad beat at Motor City is always in the 6 figures, and recently got up to 400k.
When it hits, the loser gets 40% of pot bad beat, winner gets 20%, and 40% spread to players that were dealt in the hand.

What a fuck face. Standard to tip dealers in the thousands of dollars if you hit a big one. If I hit 100k bad beat, Id give the dealer somewhere around 3-5k.
