Anyone ever tried Antabuse?
Maybe know someone that did?
I am really considering it. The only thing that is stopping me is that I would like to have the window open. I know, willpower, but it would be a lot easier if I knew I was going to be violently ill if I had a drink. Doc told me the problem is that people just decide to not take it when they want to drink - which was the main selling point to me. But then I read you need to be off it for like a week before drinking.

I had a good friend that had to take it under court order back in the 80s. He was on his 3rd DUI or something like that. Couldn't even wear after shave or he'd get sick as a dog. I've not seen him for 15 years now but he stayed clean at least up to the last time I saw him.

And, you still can't type a post without intentionally fucking it up. Time to keep your tongue in your mouth and write English.Blanch32 wrote:MattyFresh wrote:fuck i agree with blan

Probably not, though 95% of the idiots on this board should be court ordered on it.

Hi Herby
Seriously, if you at that place with alcohol consumption its time to consider AA and professional help.
Antabuse is a serious step. Damned near killed a USN friend of mine who had been given a choice of brig and discharge or treatment.

Re: Anyone ever tried Antabuse?
Venlafaxane might be a better alternative. It is an opiate inhibitor that doesn't make you sick but takes the pleasure away so you have no desire to keep drinking. Sounds like.a miracle drug really.

Herbie, get some help dude.
As others have noted, most in English, AA is a great choice.
Just taking a pill is a bad idea.

I think the pill is a great idea for someone like you who doesn't seem to have a serious problem (though I could be way wrong, obviously I don't know you). Let us know how it works if you go down that route Herbie. Good luck.

I wouldn't recommend it. Or at least mixing it with cocaine, alcohol and Heminevrin.

I don't know how I came up with that but the name is actually Naltrexone.
