Yeah it's never happened before.

1) Didn't say it's never happened before,
2) Neither pic is in the OO,
3) First pic from 20+ years ago,
4) Second pic from 30+ years ago (IOW, you really had to dig deep for proof, especially considering the number of visitors inside the WH since then.)

This kind of stuff fascinates me. More so the repeatability of manufacturing than the engineering itself (which is still very cool). All of these gears had to be made to tight tolerances and mass produced using 80 year old technology. Amazing stuff.

Back before Lansing Lugnuts got their name I think they had a name that had to do with gears. Someone came up with a logo similar to what the video is showing but they added a third gear and they were all connected. If you mesh all three gears together they can't turn.
