I hear its pretty nice though, but isn't it expensive? Does your budget know about the exchange rate?

My budget is paid for by a large corporation so I'm sure it will be fair but not extravagant.
I believe they have WiFi there. I will post if they don't.
Re: Off to Vancouver, what should I do?
I don't have a food budget when I travel, but they won't cover alcohol. Anything over $25 needs to be an itemized receipt. So, if you wanna drink, stay under $25. If you don't drink, spend however you want. Or you can opt for a $35/day per diem.SeeRockCity wrote:InTenSity wrote:

I had a day in Vancouver once. Rented a rag top and drove the coast. Stopped in various places along the way. Got three hours up and drove back. Spent the rest of the day wandering aimlessly downtown. Seems like a great city. I'm def going back for an actual visit.

Should have said "A bridge"
Thanks DWags, I will look into that. Looks like a great option if I can get there before dark. I will try to fly a big styrofoam glider from it.

Never been there, so I don't have any suggestions. Sorry that I can't be of much help.

Thanks Floyd, this is helpful.
Re: Off to Vancouver, what should I do?
I'm no expert, been there 2-3 times, but I recall several 'districts' of town, depending on where you are staying you may want to check out.
Granville Island I think was the big entertainment/dining area, another was Gas Town or something like that, an older part of town, several others. Stanley park was a good bike ride on rented bikes, Capilano was not a bad way to spend a couple hours, not far out of town.
I always enjoyed Vancouver, easy to get around and find some place to spend time.

I lived by the clock for the first 3/4 of my work life. I've spent a lot of my personal time since then wandering aimlessly. I'm very anti-itinerary.

Don't litter in Vancouver. The only time Canadians get physically violent is when foreigners visit and don't put their trash in the proper containers.

That's not entirely accurate. In the mid-1800s, English mustard was slowly making its way westward from Nova Scotia and the other eastern provinces. However, as colonial dependence gave way to Canadian autonomy, the British pullback quelled many of the English influences that surely would have ended at the Pacific Ocean were it not for independence. Fine mustard wasn't the only casualty of the global political changes. Good luck getting a quality crumpet anywhere west of Calgary.

Biggest error in my working life was turning down an offer to work in Vancouver about 20 years ago before the Chinese started coming in making cash offers for residential real estate driving the cost of housing up like Silicon Valley.

Not a fan. I wonder how it would taste with English mustard. Or horseradish.

Re: Off to Vancouver, what should I do?
I sailed into Vancouver harbor in 1997 aboard a 35 foot Oday. Sailed out of Westport Washington through the Straits of Juan de Fuca, overnighted at San Juan Island, and someplace else I can't remember. Saw a lot of Orcas.
Ummmm... that's all I got. I don't remember a lot about Vancouver.

For $40 he could have gone to Denver to search for OTPT in a dispensary.tGreenWay wrote:InTenSity wrote:I miss SRC. RIP.

We have to let OTPT go. He and Turtleneck are dead and nothing we do will bring them back. Ever.

This thread has convinced me that there's really nothing to do in Vancouver except throw Styrofoam airplanes off some stupid bridge.
