A call to action, bitches. The truth: Comey's testimony changed nothing

We now know that the president was part of the counterintelligence investigation that the FBI was conducting, at least at the time of Comey's firing (=no collusion between Trump and Russia at that time)

The president may have committed obstruction of justice, BUT it is not clear how a president is brought up on charges of obstruction, AND the president has the authority to throw up roadblocks in the special council investigation at any turn, AND the Republicans would have to be willing to co along with impeachment and removal to go further, which they clearly still are not.

The president is a lying, smarmy snake.  

This will be a marathon, so if you want to have our collective nightmare be over sometime soon, you're out of luck.  If you oppose the president's agenda (which you should) you NEED to act in small ways to fight it.  Letters and calls to your reps, like daily (it's like any other habit, you get used to it - it's not like you don't have new material ALL THE TIME).

I started a group in my little town in deep red WYOMING that is working against the privatization agenda that has taken shape in the Republican Party and which has found new energy under Trump.  They are literally trying to take everything public away.  Public Schools, public lands, public services... it's all a target for privatization and profit.  We have gotten results.  Media coverage, discussions with representatives, and a growing coalition with other groups.  And that's in Wyoming.  If we can do it here, you can do it in Michigan, which is so much closer to a 50-50 split.

Anyway.  Yeah.  This is a call to action.  Passion is one thing.  Complaining on the internet is one easy.  We gotta do something.  Disrupt.  Oppose.  Resist.  It's like a boxing match and we're fighting for the 12th round.  We're only in about round 3.  If you want some pointers, let me know.  I've been learning fast.

And goose, you can lick my taint.  Oh but, I still want pie when I come back to MI, cool?

My reps are all democrats, which is nice, but I'm not sure how I feel about calling or showing up to town halls for reps nearby but not actually my district. Unless I get some of that sweet sweet Soros protest cash I've been hearing about. Then I'm in.

It still helps to write your congressional reps if they're Dems. Like for instance if they continue to not face the fact that the energy in this fight is coming from left of the Dem party and they need to get over their corporatist agenda before they lose some more elections.

We have a 21st Century robber baron in the White House and at least her in MI we know Dick and Betsy DeVos are the MI GOP's bank for state legislative offices. The DeVos clan, Meijer brothers, Espsteins of Vesco, Roger Penske and others are willing to put up with Trump because the tax bills and business policies he supports will add millions to their wealth and wealth retention.

America is for sale like its never been before. If Trump gets his healthcare passed and infrastructure plans passed, all those "Drain the Swamp" fans are going to be finding themselves drowning in Trump's New Gilded Age swamp.

The testimony of James Comey proved long on atmospherics and short on ethics. While many were riveted by Comey’s discussion of his discomfort in meetings with President Trump, most seemed to miss the fact that Comey was describing his own conduct in strikingly unethical terms. The greatest irony is that Trump succeeded in baiting Comey to a degree that even Trump could not have imagined. After calling Comey a “showboat” and poor director, Comey proceeded to commit an unethical and unprofessional act in leaking damaging memos against Trump.

Comey described a series of ethical challenges during his term as FBI director. Yet, he almost uniformly avoided taking a firm stand in support of the professional standards of the FBI. During the Obama administration, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch gave Comey a direct order to mislead the public by calling the ongoing investigation a mere “matter.” Rather than standing firm on the integrity of his department and refusing to adopt such a meaningless and misleading term, Comey yielded to Lynch while now claiming discomfort over carrying out the order.

When Trump allegedly asked for Comey to drop the investigation of Michael Flynn or pledge loyalty, Comey did not tell the president that he was engaging in wildly inappropriate conduct. He instead wrote a memo to file and told close aides. He now says that he wishes he had the courage or foresight to have taken a stand with the president.


However, the clearest violation came in the days following his termination. Comey admits that he gave the damaging memos to a friend at Columbia Law School with the full knowledge that the information would be given to the media. It was a particularly curious moment for a former director who was asked by the president to fight the leakers in the government. He proceeded in becoming one of the most consequential leakers against Trump.

In short, Comey’s statement to the Senate Intelligence Committee that “I didn’t feel, with President Bush, the need to document it in that way” was false. He did document his story about his meeting with President Bush, in great detail, in a “report” that was turned into “unclassified notes.”

James Comey says there is a pattern to his dealings with presidents: he is an honest man who only needed to create memos to document his conversations with Donald Trump, because Trump is untruthful. But that isn’t the real pattern. The real pattern is that Comey is a snake in the grass who creates tendentious, self-serving memos that can later be used to cover his own rear end or to discredit presidents, but only if they are Republicans.
