Christie, family soak up sun on N.J. beach he closed to public

People hoping to visit Island Beach State Park this holiday weekend were not allowed in because of the state government shutdown Gov. Chris Christie ordered amid the state budget standoff in Trenton.

But there was one family there: Gov. Chris Christie's. They are using the summer beach house provided by the state for a weekend down the Shore.

And here are exclusive aerial photos by NJ Advance Media showing Christie surrounded by wife Mary Pat and others.

It was taken early Sunday afternoon before the governor headed to Trenton to hold another news conference about the shutdown.

At a Sunday news conference on the shutdown, Christie was asked if he got any sun today.

"I didn't," he said. "... I didn't get any sun today."

When later told of the photo, Brian Murray, the governor's spokesman, said:

"Yes, the governor was on the beach briefly today talking to his wife and family before heading into the office. He did not get any sun. He had a baseball hat on."

Entitled asshole, like when he took a helo to his kid's ballgame, then rode in the gov's limo the last hundred yards.

Gov. Chris Christie signed a state of emergency permitting the operation of essential government services such as state police, correctional facilities, welfare services, state hospitals and treatment facilities. Also shielded from the shutdown are New Jersey Transit, the state lottery, casinos and racetracks...

...and the state helicopter he used to fly to the beach.

No wonder Trump didn't hire him.

I think they closed it because his presence creates conditions for dangerous sinkholes that will endanger the wellbeing of other beach goers.

Yes, but it also increases the odds of a successful whale watch. However, most tourists don't care about the threat of drowning as much as they are damaging their rods and cones, so visitor numbers will still be way down.

If I lived in NJ I would be as angry with state government shutdown as if I lived in Maine.

But I live in MI where our govenor appointed people who apporoved switching water sources in Flint to save money and the same people refused to allocate funds for corrosion tests prior to the switch. Refused to spend money for anti-corrosion inhibitors after the switch and had Dr Eden Wells, a Snyder appointee threated Wayne State with cutting off funds if they continued their independent study of the effects of the change including the change causing Legionaire's Disease ar a Flint hospital.

All Christie did was put his ample backside on a closed state beach.  Our tough nerd exposed over 50,000 people to lead poisoning and then watched his appointees cover it up and did nothing.
