I think a deal was made. They weren't gonna let McGregor hit the canvas and they were not going to allow any clinching or close quarter fighting.

Boxing is fucking stupid. Floyd might be the best ever at it, but that doesn't impress me much. After watching that fight, I honestly believe I'd have a chance against Floyd in an actual one-on-one street fight. Of course I know in my brain that that's actually complete delusion, but I still kind of believe it in my heart. Floyd succeeds at a "sport" based on people punching each other, in which it is against the rules to punch that person seemingly anywhere on the head other than the face, and where if one of the fighters bends over at the waist (freely exposing the top/back of the head) and turns his back towards his opponent, he is rewarded by the rules for doing that.

It wouldn't even have to be MMA rules, but if McGregor was simply allowed to punch Floyd's whole head, not just his stupid little face, Floyd would have been face down inside a round. The first time Floyd turtled up, McGregor would have rained hammers down on the top/back of his head and it would have been game over. But apparently boxing is a combat sport that rewards you for actively turning your back to your opponent. Fucking dumb, glad I didn't pay money for that shit.

Betting on Floyd was easy money. I made about $50 but I'm kicking myself for not taking Floyd against my buddy..he said he'd take mcgregor at 4:1 for $200. I just couldn't risk that much

Mayweather has fought like that since his first hand injury.

No one signs a boxing contract without knowing the rules that will be followed in the ring.

McGregor knew the rules and if you believed his pre-fight bravado thought his brawling style would bring about a early round win.

Last night you saw how a 40 year old who's been trained to box from 10-11 years old beats (literally beat with both hands ) a 28 year old who was never trained how to through effective punches or taught how to defend.

If the referee hadn't stepped in, Mayweather would have landed at least 40 more shots to McGregor's head in the fight's last 70 seconds while McGregor stumbled about unable to protect himself.

He's barely top ten in his weight class. He could never have beaten Duran, Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Sugar Ray Robinson. He'll I'd take Aaron Pryor or Alexis Arguello and they didn't move up to fight at Mayweather's weight til later in their careers.

Saw it at Bdubbs for $20. I thought it was entertaining but having to sit through 3 earlier undercards and wait for the fight to start at around midnight was ridiculous. McGregor fought way better than I thought he would but ultimately didn't have the stamina to box for 10 rounds. Say what you want about Floyd, and trust me I think he's a major dbag, but he's an excellent boxer. 50-0 speaks for itself.

UFC rules have a bigger area but do not allow blows to the back of the head.

What weight class since Mayweather and every fighter listed with the exception of Hagler fought in at least 4 sometimes 5 weightclasses in their careers.

UFC rules have a bigger area but do not allow blows to the back of the head.

Shows how much I follow combat sports. Regardless, turning your back to your opponent shouldn't be a workable strategy in a fight. Boxing is dumb.

Honestly, that's like saying that football is stupid because it doesn't allow holding. I bet there are better people in the world at preventing someone from getting past them than NFL o linemen, if only they were allowed to clutch, grab, tackle or trip the defender.

Boxing is a sport. Sports have rules. It's not fight club.
