This Yankees team is unbelievably exciting to watch. The pressure is all on Houston and I thought tonight’s game was crucial for them. Yankees haven’t lost at home in the playoffs and can go up 3-2. If that happens it’s over.

The Yankees still have to beat Keuchel and Verlander.steveschneider wrote:gHost Spartan wrote:Judge growing up before our eyes. Holy shit. Love seeing this - reminds me of Cook his first year starting against scUM. Love seeing young kids take it to the next level under pressure.

Keuchel goes today against Tanaka, which would seem to favor Houston. Even if they lose, they pitch Verlander on Friday and would have game 7 at home.

I think the Astros lose tonight. This Yankees team plays on another lever at home and when that stadium starts rocking its very tough to win in there. There's nothing like New York baseball fans.

Houston needs a huge momentum swing. A big time homerun to ignite the crowd early, motivate the team and help them get their swagger back.

Well, I think MLB is loving the possibility of NY/LA. I know the viewing audience will be huge. Both huge markets, plus many will be tuning in to watch the Yankees get beat. Even though this particular Yankee team is kind of endearing to the baseball crowd in thier youth and exuberance there is still a large portion of hate going around for them.

Houston lead MLB by a wide margin in essentially every regular season hitting category (Runs, Average, OBP, you name it).Death Roe wrote:Damn are the Astros in trouble. No offense is present.

Houston is the 4th largest market in the U.S., so they won't be missing much with a HOU/LA WS.

The Yankees would add so much more interest from the casual fan outside of the market. There's no two ways around it more people will tune in if the Yankees make it.

I don't think Houston is the 4th largest TV market though.

I'd say generally yes, its an easy assumption that a larger market would produce more viewers but "casual" fans are not tuning in for the Yankees, they prefer stories. Last thirty years viewership peaks were 95' Braves vs Indians and 04' Red Sox vs Cards and 16' Cubs vs Indians. Seems that the casual fan wants a rallying cry or a story and I think the biggest story this year is the devastation in Houston.
edit: they also haven't won a WS, that's big too.

Yeah, according to that you're right. I swear that I read something earlier this week that Houston had ridden to the 4th largest market. Had to believe there is that much disparity in "TV households".

Houston might get a human interest bump due to the hurricane, but the Yankees always seem to have some good story lines...like Judge.

you can't analyze data in that manner man, TV contracts, general viewing trends, etc. That's why you utilize peak methods in windows. Hence the years I used, otherwise I could say the Phillies vs Royals (see 80') would do just as well Nigel (dont' go Herbie on me)

I don’t disagree, truth of the matter is any of the combinations they get are going to pull in big numbers. All four teams are in the top ten markets, and there’s a good story line with each combo.
