Packers have just fired their special teams coach.

DeVante Adams is a Raider. Packers get fist and second round picks. Rodgers gave his blessing I guess.

It sucks, but it's a move the Packers had to make. Adams said he would not play under franchise tag (20.1 million in salary) and is getting 28.25 million a year from the Raiders the highest for any WR. The draft is deep this year in receivers they have a lot of picks and Green Bay has money to resign a few free agents.

I'm guessing. And it's not Rodgers fault. I have always advocated to just tear it down and start over. This front office is really bumming me out. If the packers go back to the 70's and 80's to end my life with, Fuck every last one of them. Rodgers and Adams would have been a Dallas cowboy type trade for draft picks. I don't think so. All Rodgers has ever really asked for was some input. Something that every other franchise QB in the league has. Adams and Rodgers are by all accounts close friends, but they also understand the realities of the salary cap. Green Bay can't give Rodgers the contract they did and pay also Adams $28.25 million a year. They either had agree to take less money or one or both of them had to leave. That's just how the NFL works.

It seems the fences have been mended in Green Bay because they are giving Rodgers a voice. This isn't 1950 anymore - not even the 1990's - and the old school attitude of players should just shut up and play doesn't cut it. Rodgers is a weird dude, but by all accounts is very popular among his fellow players. He is the type of player who can recruit other players and who others want to play with.

I don't know if Rodgers will win another Super Bowl in Green Bay but he is probably the best quarterback in the league. That is not a bad starting point for a Super Bowl run. The question is can Green Bay assemble a great team around him - to do that they had to say goodbye to Adams.

I’m also a fan of the packers.  I hate what has transpired in the last two years in the front office.  Tighten the shit up.  They needed to be constantly communicating with Rogers and Adams at the same time knowing what page each one of those players were on. They completely dropped the ball on this and I’m telling you, they did not plan on Adams saying he wasn’t going to be franchise tagged. My only hope is they use these draft picks wisely. I’m not gonna hold my breath.

Tom Izzo? Doesn’t get to draft or write contracts with players. He has to recruit them and it’s only at their mercy if they choose him. Once that recruiting cycle is over , he works with what he has, and gets the most out of it. He has done an amazing job.

Besides that, I’m only a Packers fan, born in Milwaukee but by the grace of God became spartan. My blood is green and my heart pumps the red cedar river . There has been no other coach in the history of the Big Ten to do as well as Tom Izzo under the exact same circumstances. In the NFL when each team plays by the same rules, some front offices thrive, and the Packers have had a lot of those,  and some front offices seem like they make a lot of mistakes. I hope I’m dead wrong

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Izzo fan and I would 100% agree that he has done an amazing job.  The best basketball coach MSU will ever have.  That said, I think it is fair to say he has somewhat under performed in the post season and we have made more than few quick exits.  Rodgers has also under performed in the post season and has even less control of those who play around him.

Green Bay did all they could do with Adams and did a great job with the trade.  The franchise tag would have made Adams the second highest paid receiver in league, now he is the highest paid with 67.5 million of guaranteed money.  Good for him.

The salary cap is one way the NFL has parity.  Just think of all the teams who legitimately had a shot at the Super Bowl this year.  No team can really have a talent overload and Adams is part of that parity.

Rodgers could restructure his contract for more talent around him if he wants. But I get it, it’s his money. My choice if I want to watch or not. He looked out for him. No complaints about that. I hate our front office. They allowed it.

My sister is a packer nut/stalker. I’m a fan. No where near like I’m an MSU family member. I want both to always win but I’m way less attached to Green Bay.

He has a point, but since he plays for the Packers he doesn't have a point and I hate him.

Saw the last ten minutes or so. If GB had scored late to tie/win, the Lions would’ve had legit beefs with the refs. In both of the last two plays of the game, the play clock had reached zero. Rodgers called TO on the second to last play of the game, and the ball was snapped late on the last play. Even the announcers saw and mentioned it in real time. It certainly gives pause to longtime Lions’ fans who have felt like the League doesn’t want them beating the historically upper echelon of the NFL, and Rodgers got the benefit of both calls.

The refs should either have a watch that buzzes their arm when time is up, or get rid of the rule. This “the back judge looks up, then checks to see if the ball is snapped, then checks to make sure the clock is indeed 0, then thinks about it for a moment, then checks who the quarterback is” thing is silly

Especially when only certain teams/players get the benefit of the doubt. Be consistent. The play clock is there for a reason and plays an actual roll in game outcomes.

I think we broke Rodgers today.

For all of the legislating they do to define what exactly constitutes a catch and doing slow motion replays to determine if a player made a “football move” and fumbled or just dropped a pass… you’d think delay of game would be real real easy to get right every single time
