Could Michigan State win the East this year?

OSU looks awful. Michigan did not impress today. I don't know what to make of Ped State. Our D looks pretty damn good. Who knows?

But I think we're ahead of schedule and going 9-3 is a very real possibility. I'm still worried about whats going to happen when we run into a more accurate QB and stouter OL/DL lines though.

I reluctantly voted no and I hesitated because of the 'you are on crack' part. We have improved a lot so I don't think you have to be that high to entertain the thought.

Maryland looks like a contender, I think Michigan will play better FB, PSU looks like a top favorite and I expect OSU to switch qbs and possibly improve.

I have a few questions that concern me about msu.

1) can our d stop the deep pass vs an accurate qb

2) will unimaginative play calling by our OC cost us at crucial moments?

I saw a few flat and very uninspired drives that lacked creativity and looked very predictable which I think is a problem.

No. We're still a year away. We might step up and shock some teams but we're not ready to run the gauntlet yet.

You never know. But probably not. I'm still not convinced SCum can line up and run the ball if they have to.

I think it has just a little bit to do with OSU getting thumped at home and their obvious QB liability. Plus SCum looking underwhelming at home and their QB being a potential liability + their oline being suspect.

I don't know otpt I think there's a very good chance that MSU could win the east regional if we are placed there in March. I think we will have a very good team with Bridges back.

I think we all need to take a step back and gather ourselves. We have coverage breakdowns that Speight and Barrett and McSorely will exploit. I love these kids and I have no doubt that they will improve weekly. Our defense is better than I thought but it's not there yet. I've seen nothing that tells me we can beat uofm and OSU at their place or the best team ped state, at our place.

I wouldn't put it past OSU to make a QB switch and turn into something really dangerous by the end of the year. I've heard their WRs/TEs are not very good this year but I find that difficult to believe with the athletes they bring in. I tend to think it's more the guy delivering the ball.

I really do not want this to be a PSU/UM race.

I'd say it's Penn State's division to lose at this point.

granted, Ohio State hasn't looked great but I figure Barrett will snap out of whatever funk he's in at some point. Michigan has been underwhelming - especially their showing against Cincinnati - but Florida and Air Force are, at least, decent teams.

preseason, I figured we'd go 7-5.. I might be willing to entertain 8-4 at this point.

We win Saturday and I could see 8-4. If we lose I'm not sure we have 6 wins left in us.

I'll be interested in seeing Michigan's offense vs. Big Ten defenses.  I don't know that they can rely on it to win games, however, with their defense, the offense might not need more than 21 points in many big ten games.  Right now, PSU is the only offense I've really glanced at that seems to maybe have th eability to put up 4 or five scores against UofM.

As far as this week goes, I really think it gives us either a 7th win or we don't break above .500 this season.

Next two groups of 5 games, as we stand now, I see a 2-3 stretch in both groups of 5.  Swing games for me in both are Minnesota in the first group of 5 and Northwestern in the second group of five.  I have us losing both right now, I'll wait and see after this week whether I think we can go 3-2 in both groups of five games

As long as Speight is the QB the scum game is 50/50. Their oline is suspect. You can't convince me Speight is better than Peters. Starting Peters puts red flags up for McCaffery. Jimmy's playing politics and it might cost him this season.

I think you'll see a drop off in their defense if their offense can't stay on the field.
