true story: one of my best friends in high school (was just a good 'ol mountain boy) played football at Duke. The Cure played at Cameron and the tour promoter requested "security" from football players - ya know, the dudes standing between the stage and the barrier to crowd..

anyway, my friend volunteered (he had never heard of them) - I was like "dude, you got to see The Cure" and in a good 'ol mountain boy drawl he goes "man, if that's the cure, I'd hate to see the disease".

I saw The Cure at Giants Stadium during that tour. Love & Rockets, The Pixies, and The Pogues opened up for them. They played the first few songs from Disintegration in order and it was awesome. It was summer and I was so young - OMG.... I was there with my super hot Puerto Rican goth girlfriend who wore Doc Martens boots and cute little goth skirts, dark eyeliner... she was sooo cute.

Coincidentally, I also took a dump way up on the 300 level section of the stadium prior to the show. The Pogues were playing and I couldn't find an empty bathroom. Walked all the way up the stairs and then came back down.

It was such a magical evening.....

Regarding the best Cure songs, here's my list:

1) Just Like Heaven - My all-time #1 song. It's the perfect alt-pop song with beautiful music and lyrics

2) A Forest - Enough said

For as much as I love Disintegration, that album also has some of my least favorite most popular Cure songs - I never liked Lullaby or Lovesong and Fascination Street has not aged well. I agree. I remember when that track was first released. Back then you could buy the CD Singles and I was so fucking excited to buy that. The Cure also released "Mixed Up" which had a bunch of remixes on it, including Fascination Street.
