Those guys with the deck boxes use to piss me off because you knew they were slowing everyone else down.

Showed the pic you posted to a co-worker 10 years younger. He had no idea computers use to be like that. Told him the story of my Fortran and Cobol classes:

1) Write a program
2) Walk/bike/bus to the CPS building
3) Wait for an open keypunch machine
4) Type your cards
5) Keep your cards in order
6) Wait in line to put your deck put through the card reader
7) Put your cards in the reader
8) Get the cards read
9) Keep your cards in order retrieving them from the reader
10) Check the screen to see if your program is in the cue
11) Wait or decide to go back to the dorm/apartment, depending how busy the building was
12) Get a printout of your program result
13) Successful, go home. Unsuccessful, go sit down and try to figure out the issue
14) Return to the keypunch room to type your revised program cards...wait again if necessary
15) Repeat steps 4 through 12 as many times as it takes until 13 is success

That sequence was actually kind of fun the first couple times but got old.
