On the crossbow case, good luck. You might need to go to a softside case.

That is kinda what I had feared. I really like the hard cases for the XBow.... Oh well, this scope is the tittays and I ain't givin' it up fer nothin'. Not even the law!

I don't mostly because I have no equipment and it would be expensive to get started.

Killed a couple back in the day, but my buddy ate them so it's not as if it was wasteful. Now, if I could, I'll shoot all the little red squirrels in my neighborhood out of existence. Problem is that the police really frown on shooting guns in the city.

My mother hates squirrels. They got into her attic a couple of times. Last spring she decided she had enough.

She bought two traps and has gone on spree. I think she's at 60 squirrels now but they haven't come around much anymore.

Works like this squirrel gets trapped. Then uusually her or my dad take said trap and submerge it in large outdoor tuperware thing that used to hold garden equipment. It now is filled with water.

3 minutes later Dead squirrel removed and then taken to trash.

Asked my dad why and he said he was only following orders.

Agreed. The fox and black squirrels around here are a lot of fun to watch. Love feeding them whole peanuts. Red Squirrels, on the other hand, must be sentinels sent by the devil.

F150 or bust! Also, I am not sure a Prius has enough power to haul around a penis of adequate size. So once again you lie.

I got it at the Boot-n-Shoot up by Ovid.

You can buy Chinese-made boots, that Mexican-made American outfit and a Russian-made assault rifle all in one spot.

I've never felt so American in my life.

Take your daughter.

Good article this morning in the Freep.....it's apparent why the states are trying to add other gear to Pittman-Robertson.

Michigan hunting in major decline — why that matters

From a high of 785,000 deer hunters in 1998, the number of licenses sold for Michigan's firearm deer-hunting season last year was down to 621,000 — a nearly 21-percent decline. And those remaining hunters are graying, with most in their late 40s to late 60s, according to a demographic analysis conducted by Michigan Technological University. By 2035, projections are that the late-'90s rate will be cut by more than half.

Can't do it. We got 13 uncle's and nephews at camp. She's only 4. Two of them are chain smokers. She'd love it, don't get me wrong. Loves being outside in all weather. I did get the ok to bring her from everyone but I'm not going to start telling people where they can smoke. Hell, I have a headache everyday I'm there when they're both puffing away. They're in their mid 70's paid their dues, served their country, put hammer and nails to that place from day one. I can't start going whiny bitch on them lol.

Obviously your call but I'll play devil's advocate.

Weigh a week of 2nd hand smoke versus the bonding time with you right now in light of the current upheaval in her life. It would be a lifetime memory for both of you. I'm not going to say the uncles would go outside to smoke, as a 35 year smoker I hated that - but - sometimes people surprise you and make accommodations on their own as long as they feel it's choice not force - it feels better that way.

As I said, your call.....but I'd take some time to consider it.

My kid has shown zero motivation to go. Asked him multiple times. Not going to force him. C'est la vie.

Also if you don't have acreage at your beckon call it's a HUGE pain in the ass to find a spot. State land is like the wild west... taking your like into your hands. Most crotchety old farmers (who own all the land) wouldn't allow you to hunt or would be huge dicks about it.

Not sure why it's such a huge deal, give existing hunters a walleye limit for all I care.

I hear ya. It has been brought up in the past because a few people objected. Our president at the time said nobody is gonna tell them where they can and can't smoke (and they're Democrats LOL). It would be a little dicy bringing a little girl up there anyway then start asking people to go outside to smoke. It would be different if they weren't a pack and a half a day smokers. If this were fish camp in August I wouldn't hesitiate cause we're always outside anyway. Bad timing.

Good article this morning in the Freep.....it's apparent why the states are trying to add other gear to Pittman-Robertson.

Michigan hunting in major decline — why that matters

My kid has shown zero motivation to go. Asked him multiple times. Not going to force him. C'est la vie.

Also if you don't have acreage at your beckon call it's a HUGE pain in the ass to find a spot. State land is like the wild west... taking your like into your hands. Most crotchety old farmers (who own all the land) wouldn't allow you to hunt or would be huge dicks about it.

Not sure why it's such a huge deal, give existing hunters a walleye limit for all I care.

As a guy that hunted state land up north in the 70s and then got 20 years of club country/private land hunting before returning to state land 10 years ago I think i have a pretty good perspective on this.

The decline in hunters has been most apparent on state land. So many hunters that are left now have their own land that I think the decline in numbers has been more concentrated in those that don't have a permanent camp to go to.

I know this - I can now find areas of state land that are not even close to overrun. In contrast to the early 70s when on opening morning I always made sure my back was against a tree before the dawn cannonade started.

Forgot the kid part....of my kids - #2 son hunts but only takes a day or two off work unlike the week plus I used to do. #1 son loves the outdoors but doesn't hunt. Daughter has gone but not hunted, says she wants to this year. SiL likes to camp and go to "deer camp" but rarely hunts. So a pretty mixed bag. Like you it's best to let them find their own way.

Frankly, I haven't hunted state land since the 90's, but two or three run-ins with the "locals" or guys who think they "owned" something was enough to keep me off the land. Nothing explicitly violent per-se, but I'd rather avoid armed and crazy if at all possible.

Not only that, but the increased chance of accident always freaked me out. Parking with one car in the lot, then walking out with 20.... Enough dudes with buck fever for one to pull the trigger at a rustling in the brush (me).

That said, I have an uncle with land we could hunt 1.5 hrs away. Kid isn't even jazzed about that. With all of the other stuff kids are required to do now a days, this feels like something to do if you have "free time", which my kid does not...
