Don't expect this to happen overnight. It is going to take a long effort to penetrate Uranus enough to get where we want to be.Jake from State Farm wrote:Floyd Robertson wrote:You can't make this stuff up. Well, I guess you could, but this is better.

I saw one of those "blood moon" eclipses on the western horizon one morning on my way to work, scared the crap out of me.

The meteor shower was expected to peak next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and that's good news for metro Detroiters. The National Weather Service said Wednesday and Thursday was expected to remain mostly sunny and dry, before clouds move in Friday. The Eta Aquariids continue through May 27.

Sounds like you’ve learned about Mrs. GreenWay’s 2-wine bottle mobile limit. When the second bottle is empty it’s time to pull over for the day.

Was up in Cocoa Beach last week and saw this out on the launch pad (from quite a distance, of course).
Exciting stuff. The first launch of the SLS, the most powerful rocket ever built, and the rocket that will take humans back to a soundstage in Hollywood--err, I mean "the moon"--is on track for possibly as early as late August.

But where does it end, Floyd? Does it end? And if not, how is this possible?
That’s the question I find hardest to wrap my head around. Infinite space.

Want your mind blown some more? Space is still expanding. If that's true, what is it expanding into? What is it displacing?

What an incredible image, and only the beginning. An area of space the size of a grain of sand if held at arms length. It is a little hard to wrap my head around it being real, as it looks like it should be a drawing or something.Floyd Robertson wrote:[tw]1546621180194480129[/tw]

No no no. Haven't we done this? Space is finite. Finite but unbounded. This is an intellectual community so let's get our incomprehensible language straightened out.

The Big Dipper is in the Northern sky. I guess it ends up just a little West of North in the wee hours.kingstonlake wrote:What’s the flickering star in the western sky just to the left of the Big Dipper?
Either way, the Google Sky Map app is helpful in finding that stuff out.

Hey man, I was barely awake! Let the dogs out to pee lol. BD was in the lower NNW sky. Flicker star/planet seem to be almost due west. I’ll check that app out.
