I remember their farewell tour back in '82. Had tickets and was forced to sell them as I was moving to FL.

I thought the last Stones blues album was pretty good. I'd give this a listen but I'm not expecting much.

Got the sat coordinates and watched the ‘82 “last” show in audio control at a local network affiliate in Lansing. The booth had been set up by a radio guy, so the sound system was advanced and excessive for the time. Add in all the cams and it was a remarkable experience.

That sounds amazing. What kind of screen were you watching it on? I bet they had the best screen available at the time and for the early 80's that must have been awesome.

Saw Daltrey at a show this past summer doing Tommy with the orchestra. He was not bad, but needed a lot of help from Pete's baby brother Simon Townsend to handle the trickier vocals. Old age is bitch.
Would not be surprised to see them (Roger, Pete and whoever) featured at the Woodstock 50th anniv. concert.

Maybe they can get that young cello player you love and you can just cream in your pants, huh?

Surprisingly, not the best screens, but a lot of them all over in varying sizes. TV technology hadn’t had a big leap forward back then, and while the monitors were newer, they weren’t considered the best. IIRC, even state of the art screens weren’t all together impressive back then, and the owner of the station was a notorious skinflint, except when it came to buying things for himself.

Nice!
We used that sat to watch the Holmes/Cooney fight, too, except it was one standard size (for the era) screen and maybe half a dozen of us were hanging out in shipping/receiving watching at the start. By the end of the fight, word had spread and there had to be three dozen people there.
When Cooney landed that low blow late in the match, I swear every guy in the room instantly groaned and reflexively doubled over.
(Great view of the hit on Holmes in slow mo at :35 sec. in)
