When the sneaker craze hit in 6th/7th, I wanted some Js badly but no way were my parents springing for $130 shoes, Christmas or no Christmas. I asked for some Lottos instead and got those.

Elementary and Jr. High it was canvas Converse. HS it was Pony. College it was K-Swiss and canvas TopSiders. Those classic K-Swiss were the best made tennis shoes I’ve ever worn, and once the leather was broken in, they were extra comfortable. Problem was, they weighed a ton and didn’t breathe well at all, which meant they got super smelly in warm weather months.

Loved my k-swiss. And yes they were heavy but gold once you broke them in.

I don’t really remember but I’m over 50% sure it was adidas. Then in 78 it was Nike.
