Animal Experts: How to Help an Injured Bird?

So, there's a bird in my yard that is injured(Not sure how, he just can't/won't fly). I put some towels in a box along with some water and bread crumbs, and I plan on calling the local Animal Services & Enforcement center tomorrow morning(They close at 4:30) if he's still alive.

Is this the proper course of action?

Nah, though I did see one maliciously and unfairly slaughtered not too long ago

Depends on where you live. Near us, the Howell Nature Center has an animal rehabilitation program. My wife once took in a baby bird that was abandoned by its mother.
