I hope we don’t all get it before there’s an available vaccine. I’m an upbeat person IRL, grouchy only for effect when it suits me, and I’m thankful for everything I have. Unfortunately, I’m a bit of a fatalist when it comes to illnesses and disease. With my asthma, even if it’s only moderate and mostly controlled, I look at covid and fear it would be the end of me. I know Dendro has asthma, too, and she’s probably hyper-aware of this shit, but I hope her outlook is at least better and healthier than mine.

My wife's brother and his wife have tested positive and both are very sick. He is in the hospital receiving oxygen. She is suffering from similar symptoms and may join him today.

Every time I see that posted I laugh, and then weep for Floridians dumb enough to elect him.

Anyway, I installed Michigan's app this morning. I figure it's another layer of defense. Problem is, the Play store says 100,000 downloads. I don't know if they report higher numbers or that's where they stop. Obviously, it would work a lot better if it was 5,000,000 downloads.

Oh, one other thing. My county has free testing, no appointment, no referral. Problem is, the wait is 2-3 hours. This is not helping.

Me and the wife both installed the app. Hopefully it never has to contact us, or however it works.

Their elected officials think the public health personnel and scientists knowledge is a better way.

Update: BIL has been sent home and is feeling better. Still doing zoom calls with his doctors twice a day. SIL, not so much. She remains at Beaumont receiving an increasing amount of oxygen. A decision on a vent may be coming soon.

FWIW if you are in SE Michigan and looking to get tested, I highly recommend Emcura Drive Up. No appointment needed. Just download the form and drive up. I went a couple weeks ago (negative) and it took about an hour. They do both instant and PCR. Really easy.

Kroger pharmacies is offering covid rapid antibodies tests for $25. This isn’t to confirm a current infection, but to see if you’ve had it previously.

There are a ton of nurses in husbands family. One of them works at crittenton. He said they intubated 50 people in one day last week.

Kroger is offering antibody tests for $25. I got mine done today. Results in 15 min. I do not have antibodies. I was hoping I would. Technically doesn’t mean I’ve never had it, but most likely, I never had it.

Macomb county offers free drive-up testing M-F 9am-3pm, no appointment, no referral needed, just your ID.

I went last Friday for no reason, got in line at 8:15 and was done in an hour. Test results came back on Monday. Earlier in the week the wait was as long as 2.5 hours from what I heard.
