I’m serious. That’s a great fucking meal. Yes our house would smell for a week but damn. My mom would have the flour and egg mix. We would slit them pop their heads off and clean them. Basically just using our thumbs. She’d make a coleslaw or something like it. Maybe boil corn on the Cobb or green beans and it was the best damn meal ever.

I remember smelting with my grandpa in the St Clair River near Marine City when I was a kid. Never done it up here but my understanding is the focus on a thriving trout and salmon population has pushed the numbers down.
