I learner today that Dan LaFevour is playing for the Tiger Cats. I wondered whatever happenend to him.

I have a buddy who is a CFL honk. I'll ask him. Here is his take on this weekend's action (yes, really).

Calgary-Edmonton tonight (ESPN2). Battle of Manitoba, only two remaining undefeated teams in the league. Edmonton is much improved from last year and Calgary remains the class of the league (until the playoffs start, then they always choke). Huge game here for Edmonton, at home they have to prove they can play with these guys. They looked incredible defensively last week and on offense they looked alright, but not great. Calgary somehow just keeps plugging in new QB's in all the time and winning, Bo Levi Mitchell has not lost a game in his CFL career yet and I don't think this will be the one...but I'm not real confident on this play. I am confident that this game will be UNDER the number though. These two defenses are stellar and I think they'll hold the offenses down, I'm more convinced of that after watching Calgary struggle against a bad Hamilton defense in Calgary. Play the Under.

Tomorrow night is Winnipeg at BC (ESPN3). BC is coming into form and dominated an awful Montreal team last week. Winnipeg is reverting back to what they are, after a great 3-0 start they looked mediocre at home against Edmonton. BC is giving eight points, it's a big number but I think it's doable...play BC.

Hamilton-Ottawa kicks off Saturday doubleheader (ESPN3). Hamilton is a 5.5 point favorite, I think solely because this is the first game they are playing in their new stadium. Ottawa is as good as Hamilton and I think they'll hang, possibly even spoil the party. I will play Ottawa here and maybe supplement it with a small money line play.

Toronto at Saskatchewan on Saturday night (ESPN2), Riders favored by 6.5. These crossover games have not been going well when East goes West. Not a super long trip here, but I think Riders are a better team than Toronto as long as Chad Owens, Jason Barnes and Andre Durie continue missing games. Play the Riders.

Interesting that Manitoba has adopted both teams from Alberta.

Redblacks?  I miss the days were the Roughriders faced off with the Rough Riders as roughly a quarter of the teams in the league having the same nickname

I think Greg Jones is still with the Toronto Argonauts. He's been scratched for a couple of games, probably due to injury.

I have been notified by my CFL buddy that Mitchell White is on the Montreal injured list. He nailed both of his plays last night, btw.

As long as he doesn't dance with white girls at hockey parties he'll be okay, though that eliminates a lot of parties in Canada

CFL Doubleheader tonight, one on Saturday and one more on Sunday.

Champs (Calgary) visit Ottawa, favored by 5 now. Line started a lot higher but is moving in Ottawa's direction. Ottawa started 2-0 but got smoked in a home and home with Edmonton last two weeks. Calgary is not covering against anyone this year so I think everyone's fading that trend, but they're 3-1. I was impressed with Calgary last week because they gutted out a tough game against Winnipeg, Bombers should have won by missed an XP and a FG to lose by one...but I think they are a damn good team. Calgary impressed me in the second half because their O-Line was decimated and their run game found a way to get on track and win that game. I think this week they rely on their horse (Jon Cornish) and wear down Ottawa, similar to how the Esks beat them the last two weeks. Lay the five and take Calgary.

Toronto visits BC in the late game, Lions favored by three. Toronto is very impressive this year, 2-1 to start the year with just a loss at Calgary. BC won a home and home with Saskatchewan and has improved every week. I'm just going to play the home team/long trip for Toronto angle here and ride the Lions, but not terribly convinced of this one. I see lots of people on the Argos here, and they were off last week but I just think BC is better than people are giving them credit for.

Winnipeg is getting 5.5 at Edmonton. Edmonton smoked Ottawa the last two weeks but I think that was just indicative of Ottawa returning to form (bad) and Edmonton not really looking all that great. I think Winnipeg is one of the best teams in the league, not all that sure why they would get so many points here. There are only five teams in the league left with their opening day QB's (Winny, Calgary, Ottawa, BC and Hamilton), and I think Winnipeg has probably been bit by the injury bug less than anyone, they look good and should have won in Calgary last week.

Hamilton visits Saskatchewan on Sunday, Riders favored by a rouge...essentially a tossup. I keep backing Hamilton and it's not working. Their offense is struggling, and I keep expecting they'll get it going but their run game is killing them. Riders defense is really bad though, I'll back them again and then I might be done with them. I'm just playing the team with the higher ceiling here, both teams are struggling, and with Riders struggling I don't expect their crowd to play a huge factor.

Other than that    ↑↑↑  he doesn't know anything about the CFL.

Haha. I'm actually intrigued by it. Had a coworker with family from Toronto tell me about it. He's pretty into it. Sounds like it'd be pretty fun to take in a live game.
