Where are with schollies? I saw Nigel say we still needed one more to leave in the Henry thread/pre-Kithier. We even now?

We have one open right now, presumably for a transfer unless they think Bates is reclassifying and coming.

Check my work:
Incoming: 3 freshies + 1 transfer = 4
Leaving: Langford, Hoiberg, Watts, Henry, Katherine = 5
Leaving 1 open schollie

Nigel isn’t allowed to comment on recruiting again. Ever. His rules. Not mine.

That is what I thought. Nigel's post confused me, but I assumed I was misremembering.

Wojcik wasn’t a surprise. Only surprise was who left to create the assistant coach vacancy. Thought Garland would retire rather than Fife going back to IU for an assistant job.
Kithier got his degree and played hard but it’s a brave new portal world. A few years earlier he may have gotten a redshirt.

I don't think he's coming here. I don't know of a better option because the NBA isn't changing the G League early entry rule. But I think they will decide to do something else. I know Travis will but I'm not going to lose much sleep over it either way. It's a fun little drama to follow.

Hell if I know. Overseas doesn't seem to be an option per things that Emoni and his dad have said in the past.
A year to train at IMG? Dad and an associate try to start a semi pro team? I don't know.

IF the plan was to reclassify all along, I don't know why he wouldn't come to MSU.

Because Kentucky and Kansas can pay the bills of the family for a year until the nba? Maybe DePaul

Re: 2021/2022 MSU Hoops Thread
I agree Nigel. Trying to be objective, from everything we know and they have said, going to MSU for at least a year is the most logical choice. But they are not making it, publicly (or privately from what I understand). And that just doesn't seem to make any sense to me. I'm on the 'it seems like they're looking for another option' believe train at this moment.
Wags anything can happen, and again I don't know my ass from my elbow, but as of today, based on everything that is known about this situation, I'd put the odds of him ending up at another school at roughly 2%. I just don't think that's happening. I think if he goes to college you can bet your ass it will be in East Lansing. (then again I went 0-3 last night on Fan Duel NBA betting)

Maybe Emoni didn't want to reclassify until a spot opened up.
And/or he wanted to see how the roster shook out.

I don't think finances are a consideration. Or one that would impact the choice of a college.

Possible. I just don't see another year at "Ypsi Prep" being in the cards after how this past season played out. I think the reclass seems like a sure thing. Again this is just my super amateur sleuth read on the situation. Basically a wild ass guess.

My guess is that nothing has really changed. Reclassify and hope the NBA age rule gets changed so he can go pro after 1 year.
The roster is set up for him.
If we show serious interest in some transfers (and take another one), I think that will be a sign.

Re: 2021/2022 MSU Hoops Thread
Yeah but the rule isn't changing, that's why the lack of movement is intriguing. Silver has said it. There is no appetite to employ minors at this time, and any rule changes would be part of the collective bargaining discussions when the current CBA expires. They have to know this right?
We shall see, it's going to be interesting.

I don't know what a PostGrad basketball team does, but Tum Tum won't be on the Spartan's staff next year because he'll be coaching one at his HS alma mater.

Great. Now MSU has to find a new coach to teach shooting mechanics.
