Oh, Tennessee
So my oldest, his wife and son (now a daughter too) moved to Springhill Tenn 3 years ago. tWife and I have spent a week over the 4th each year coinciding with the grandson's b-day on the 6th. Their newly built subdivision has put on spectacular fireworks display every year. All of the bombs are set off by individual homeowners. I'm talking probably 200k worth of fireworks in this neighborhood. Back to that in a second.
We flew out of flint and the "fireworks" started early. A women flying home tried to go through security without a mask. The TSA agent said" you have to wear a mask" She said " I don't wear masks" He said, "you do if you want to get on the plane" So reluctantly, she accepted it and put it on. Only to throw it down the second she got through. She was given a new one before boarding and put it on. Anyway, on the plane she went BALLISTIC. She refused to wear the mask and was confronted by flight attendants. She stood up and started screaming at everyone that did. About 200 f-bombs and multiple SHEEPLES! She was arrested when we landed. Any guess as to what brand of hat she was wearing?
Fast forward to July 4th and the fireworks. Neighbor across the street has an arsenal. While years' past have been crazy, he promotes this years event on the neighbor facebook page as "Wild on Wheeler!" ( the name of the street and sub). Some of the comments on the page express concerns. Every thing from personal injury to property damage. He turned off the comments and set on with his plan and he set up early. Complete with giant table, huge American flags and, of course, a giant MAGA flag. He had a couple of long guns on his table for good measure. Things start out ok until a misfired mortar comes directly at the house next door to us and explodes. We get what
amounts to a giant flash bang and some small shrapnel. No injuries but everyone (especially the grandkids )is freaked out .My son wants to go fight the guy and I have to talk him off the ledge and literally hold him back. Um, "dude he has guns and we don't"
Sorry for the crazy long post but I needed to write a journal.

In my many visits to Tennessee I've found most people to be very friendly and polite. Especially the neighbors who stop and say hello. My grandson received dozens of birthday cards from the neighbors. Unfortunately, crazy anti-mask maga chick and explosives guy give everyone a bad name.

Re: Oh, Tennessee
One of my siblings lives in a Nashville suburb.
She is an MSU grad with a Packaging degree who went back to school at 50 to get another undergrad in Medical technology and a masters in Medical IT that got her a job at Vanderbilt.
She and her husband left WI for the job with Vanderbilt and as she say’s it was “out of the frying pan, into the fire” when it comes to political craziness when they moved.
The anti-COVID vaccine cause is as virulent as the anti-Biden and anything having to do with Democrats. She has middle management at Vanderbilt Hospital’s IT complain about having to wear masks at bi-monthly meetings (almost all have been working from home since March 2020) and think the ACA (Obamacare) is a socialist plot.
But when my sibling points out that a significant portion of their hospital revenues come from that “socialist” program and many of them still have their over 18 children covered with their Vanderbilt provided healthcare they want to switch subjects and want to talk about Antifa.
Basically, most of the state believes n the GOP’s alternate facts reality.

Not every time, but very often when you mix regular old people and booze and fireworks you get accidents.
You talked 200k worth of fireworks and neighborhoods...that's literally bound to have fuck ups....but maga hat so that dudes evil and terrible cause he has different political thoughts. He's prolly racist and bigoted and sexist and homophobic too, your kid should move to a more tolerant area

Ok. I don't think the fireworks accident had anything to do with political beliefs. But I do think the "Wild on Wheeler" campaign was political. As in get to Wheeler it's gonna be wild. It raised concern but he ignored it. Sound familiar?
As for crazy plane lady.....c'mon.

You have zero credibility to ask anyone questions about a forum you avoid and are scared of.....all the while posting all of your political thoughts exclusively on the main board.

If you're wearing that hat in 2021, then it's probably true. Racism, sexism, and bigotry are not "different political views." Thinking health care should be left to the market or provided by the state is an example of different political views.

I always feel like that win over Tennessee in the Elite Eight is overlooked. It doesn't get much play when we discuss big MSU wins in the Tournament. I think it was a one point game.

I shared the stories here because I thought it would be interesting. While events should not have surprised me, they did.

We do fireworks more years than not, but I will never use mortars (tubes) again. There have been a few misfires/failures and it only took 2 for me to ban them from personal use.
I actually enjoy the multi-shot boxes the best. There's a duration, inherently safer and some are quite entertaining.

We our saving our mortars and mortar bombs for the coming Canadian invasion. We can quickly deploy them along the trench lines we dug out a couple years ago. Oh wait, this is about fireworks. My bad.
