This is my first time really watching the Ryder cup and I will have questions.

First one- the announcers make it sound like the players would prefer to tee off first on a hole but wouldn’t you rather be second? Particularly on a par 3? Wouldn’t knowing how the other guy did dictate how aggressive you need to be? They make it sound like it’s good to go first but I can’t think of a reason why that would be the case.

The only way you get to tee off second is if you were the last to lose a hole.

I used to be a serious golfer (I no longer play) and played a number of match play events. What I learned - until you get on the green just play your game, don't let what your opponent hit dictate your shots. Putting is a bit different in match play because depending on the situation you might want to be more aggressive than normal.

It’s not best ball it’s the best score of each hole of the two teammates that count. They all player their own ball
